Straight from the Movie
Slot games that are directly inspired by a recent film already have an entire visual universe to draw inspiration from. In Clash of the Titans, the game screen looks like a still shot from the 2010 movie, with an empty battlefield in the background and a 3D Greek temple standing in front of it, supporting the reels. The usual command buttons occupy the lower part of the screen and are well integrated within the rest of the scenery.
Clash of the Titans looks exactly like it is supposed to: a deleted scene from the original film, filled with familiar elements both on and around the reels. Fans of the movie will love it, but players who are unfamiliar with it might not get some of the references.
Fight to Save Mankind
Clash of the Titans goes back to the standard slot game pattern when it comes to the basic game rules. The game features 5 reels and 20 paylines in total, with arrow-shaped buttons on the command bar to let you adjust your bet settings at any time. Feel free to bet from 0.05 to 10.00 credits at every turn and to use the max lines and autoplay buttons to play all-in or put the game on autopilot for a while, respectively.
After spending a few moments testing the game, we concluded that Clash of the Titans had a fairly average volatility and gave us good chances to win a prize regularly. The large betting range is perfect to accommodate all kinds of players, and the easy rules are definitely beginner-friendly. On the reels, the classic, low-value card icons share the space with different heroes and villains from the film, including views of Perseus riding the winged horse Pegasus, or fighting the mighty Kraken. The top prize in the base game corresponds to 2,500 times the value of your current line bet.
Heroes to the Rescue
Clash of the Titans does not stop there and offers players a handful of bonus features to spice things up a little bit. Perseus, played by Sam Worthington in the film, is taking up the role of the wild card and can substitute for other symbols on the reels. Wild combinations can also be worth up to 20,000 times your initial bet, if you are lucky enough to line up 5 of them across the reels. With 2 Perseus symbols appearing on reels 1 and 5 simultaneously, you get to play a simple pick-and-win bonus round that can award a surprise cash prize.
The Clash of the Titans logo is a scatter, and therefore pays in any position on the screen. Three or more of them in view award both a small prize and a bonus round of 12 free spins, which will begin immediately.
Your Average Film Adaptation
Clash of the Titans has all the strengths and weaknesses that any movie-inspired slot game has. On one hand, fans of the original film, or simply players who happen to have seen it, will get most of the references and will be pleased to find their favourite heroes spinning on the reels. On the other hand, these very same qualities could confuse those who haven’t seen the film, or even repel those who have hated it.
To stick with the features of the game itself, Clash of the Titans is a very honest slot machine with some good prizes available and a balanced level of difficulty. Objectively speaking, the graphic quality is excellent and the bonuses will add a little extra to the base game as well. If you are very much into Greek mythology, we highly recommend that you try Zeus from WMS as well.
