On the Wrong Side of the Law
Mafia Madness is sending players back to the 1920s Chicago, when prohibition was in full force and the mob as powerful as it would ever become. As a professional bootlegger, your goal is to smuggle as much alcohol into the city as possible to make a maximum profit, and steal as much from your competition, and the banks, as well. The cartoon graphics used in Mafia Madness are deliciously retro and show the city at night, with a blimp flying in the sky and various barrels and crates of fraudulent alcohol lying on the ground.
The reels and command buttons are perfectly integrated within the rest of the scenery, which gives Mafia Madness a very realistic atmosphere. This game is off to a good start if we are to judge by its looks only, but let’s dig little deeper next.
Let the Smuggling Begin
Mafia Madness is played on 5 reels and 20 paylines, with different arrow-shaped buttons placed under the reels to help you adjust your bet settings at will. As for the betting range, it stretches from 0.20 to 140 credits per turn, giving you plenty of leeway to choose the wager that you are comfortable with risking. You may also want to turn on the autoplay game mode to speed up the process and let the reels spin loose, while saving and applying your current settings continuously.
All the reel symbols in Mafia Madness are directly linked to the gangster theme of the game. Knives, guns, explosives and various mobsters, including the godfather himself, can be found during the game and trigger a maximum reward of x2000. Mafia Madness is based on an average variance and gives players good chances to win a prize at almost every spin. We had fun in the base game, and it didn’t take too long before we were able to score some very interesting cash prizes as well.
Time to Break into the Bank
Mafia Madness goes beyond the regular gameplay thanks to a handful of special symbols, ready to turn the game around – and in your favour. The vintage car symbol is, for starters, the wild card of Mafia Madness and you can use it to replace the basic icons on the reels and score more cash prizes in the process. The hitmen are scatters, so try to find at least 3 of them on the reels at the same time to win a total bet multiplier, with up to 50 times your total wager up for grabs.
Finally, the safe symbols are the ultimate bonus icon of Mafia Madness. 3 on a payline initiate the Safe Heist bonus game, where you need to pick up as many money bags as you can before the police show up. Work your way through the different levels to win more cash prizes and surprise multipliers as well.
Illegal Activities Can Also Pay
We truly enjoyed playing Mafia Madness for several reasons. The first one is clearly the comic book atmosphere of the game, followed by a comfortable betting range and intuitive gameplay. The cash prizes can be very decent, especially during the Safe Heist bonus game, but we wished we could have had access to some free spins as well.
Another classic of the genre is Bank Buster by IGT, a slot game with more modern settings but the exact same goal: infiltrating a bank and emptying the safe. With a 95.20% RTP, this might be a good title to check out if you have enjoyed Mafia Madness as well.
