Heavily artillery and a battle scene takes place before your very eyes in this 5-reel, 50-payline slot machine. Grab your guns and head over the top as your try to get your hands on the scatters, wilds, free spins and big base game wins.

Big cash prizes can be won from playing as little as 0.50 a spin or as much as 250.00 a spin. If you consider yourself a bit of a high roller, you will get the biggest cash amounts from playing this slot game – a non-progressive jackpot of 50,000.

Take Aim and Fire!

The Great War has been designed beautifully and there is so much detail on display. The slot machine itself is see-through and you can get a full glimpse of a war taking place. Barbed wired on wooden stakes surround the screens, spitfires soar through the skies, tanks stand guard and countless men take the dreaded journey over the top into battle.

The paylines of this game are highlighted via golden bullets and you’ll find the control panel placed beneath the reels – this allows you to adjust your bets to suit your budget, view the paytable, initiate the autospins and keep track of your balance and wins.

Symbols that make up this slot game are very in-keeping with the theme, these are planes, warships, army, tanks, canons, machine gun and card values of 10, J, Q, K and A.

Win the Jackpot

The Great War slot game offers a non-progressive jackpot and this is in the form of a 200x multiplier. Trigger five of a kind of the red planes onto your payline and that jackpot’s all yours. The amount you win is determined by the stake you place, so if you were to play minimum bets of 0.50 a spin, you would be able to win a maximum of 100.00 – but 250.00 high roller stakes will trigger a 50,000 jackpot.

High value symbols include war ship at 100x your stake with the army, tank and canon all warding 75x your stake. All other symbols award 50x your stake when 5 of a kind land on your reels.

Battling Slot Features

When it comes to slot game features, you won’t find a great deal on offer in all honesty. The scatter can award a multiplier value when at least 3 land in view – look out for the zeppelin symbol. Three of more of the zeppelin symbols and you’ll trigger the free spins bonus, where you will get your hands on between 10 and 15 free spins.

The Great War logo is your wild – it substitutes for all symbols (bar scatter) and can appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. When a wild makes an appearance during the free spins bonus, it will become sticky for the duration of your free spins.

Similar Slot Games

There are many online slot machines that are similar to The Great War, but one stands out from the crowd, this is the Victory Ridge slot machine from Amaya Gaming. Victory Ridge is a World War II title offering up to 50,000 coins for those brave enough to do battle.

Our Verdict

The Great War has a superb design to it and it’s obvious a lot of thought and effort has gone into its development, but sadly – the same can’t be said about the bonus features or payouts. This medium to high variance slot machine requires you to play for long periods before trigger free spins and when we played, we managed to get just 25.00 in wins from a 12.50 stake.

The only feature to keep you entertained is free spins – which rarely fall into place, but not only that – the jackpot on offer and value of the symbols are a little disappointing.
