Popular Theme

The Chinese theme is one that’s extremely popular within slots, and it’s tempting to dismiss this as just another title to add to the collection. And it would be fair to say that it’s not particularly remarkable, with no outstanding features to really set it apart from the crowd. Nevertheless, it is a game which has been executed well by the developers and if you enjoy eastern-style slots, this could be one for you. The auspicious colour of red features heavily in the main play screen, providing the backdrop to the symbols and hopefully providing the player with a spot of luck!

On the reels, you’ll find a whole host of symbols which are traditionally Chinese and it’s heartening to find this rather than just a pile of more generic pictures such as playing cards. Some of the options include a flaming phoenix, Jin Chan (the three legged money frog),fortune cookies, koi carp, lotus flower and of course the dragon too. The dragon is traditionally depicted as a creature of glory and magnificence but take a closer look at the star of this game. His eyes appear slightly crossed and he has a bewildered expression on his face…not exactly the imposing beast that legends suggest!

Tackle the Dragon

You’ll be playing on five reels with a total of 10 paylines although these can be reduced if you prefer to have fewer unlocked. The coin value can be set between 1 and 50 per line which equates to a total min bet of 10, and a total max bet of 500. The dragon is the top value symbol and will pay out a prize of 1000 for matching five along an active payline (based on a max bet). However you don’t have to line up five symbols in order to win; all of the symbols record a win for matching three or more. The more symbols you match, the greater your prize will be but it’s also affected by the amount you’ve bet. Change your base bet and discover how this affects the prizes up for grabs.

Understanding the relation between the prize and the bet can be helpful to determine the best strategy for play.

Red Hot Play

Although matching up the symbols is the way to win prizes, you’ll receive some help on the reels which could bump up what you take. As well as being the top value symbol, the dragon is also the wild and can stand in for almost any of the other symbols on the board. The only exception is the scatter. The dragons often expand to take over a whole reel and any win which uses the wild will also have the prize instantly doubled.

The scatter is a pearl which is lit up by flames, presumably having edged too close to the dragon… With a top payout of 500 for matching five, the biggest benefit of the scatter is that it doesn’t have to conform to a regular payline. This means that no matter where it appears on the reels it will count.

Just like many other Amatic slots, the Gamble feature is also present. This allows players to gamble a win on the reels for the chance of either doubling or quadrupling their prize. Other than retaining the red background, there’s no customisation of this game for Wild Dragon so players who are regulars will find it instantly familiar. There’s the option to bet either all of your win or just half so players who are more risk averse may also be tempted to have a flutter.

Explore the Orient

Wild Dragon by Amatic is a simple game with a popular theme so despite the fact there’s little unique about the play, it’s likely to be a big hit. Its simple structure and basic play means that it’s particularly well suited for beginners who don’t want to be overwhelmed by complex rules.
