Look out your most vertiginous heels and slip into your slinkiest outfit. There’s a catwalk show incoming and only the most purr-fect of pussy cats will get to strut their stuff. Ash Gaming pile on the puns and the paylines in the 50s throwback that is Catwalk.

50s fashionistas will be in seventh heaven with Catwalk, which takes its style tips from the decade of polka dots, head scarves, big hats and cat’s eye glasses. The glasses are a good fit, for cats are the stars of the stage in this game, as evidenced by the pun-tastic title. These kitties demand nothing but the best and it will be your task to keep them shod and clad in the sleekest attire. To achieve that, you’ll need to win some dough on the reels, because diamond rings and silk negligees don’t come cheap.

Walking Down Madison

The setting for the game is the famous streets of Manhattan, whose blocks are populated with some of the finest department shops ever to grace New York. Iconic thoroughfares including Madison Avenue and 57th Street are signposted, while the district’s skyscrapers cluster together behind them. These well kept cats have got expensive tastes, that’s for sure. Provided you don’t nurse a pathological hatred for the colour pink, Catwalk should prove to be right up your street.

Game Controls

Catwalk features 5 reels and a generous 100 paylines. The line bet can be set at between 0.002 and 1, providing ample scope for playing as conservatively or as aggressively as you like. The maximum bet per spin will of course work out at 100 credits. There’s an autoplay button – rendered in pink like everything else – which can be set at between 10 and 99 spins. Audio controls are discreetly sited in the top right of the screen along with various options including the ability to select fast play, in case Catwalk isn’t already quick enough for you.

Spin the reels and the game sets off at a rate of knots, and that’s in regular play.. These kitties are in a hurry to get to the department store. The game symbols are charmingly designed, with feminine felines posing with parasols, hats, hairbrushes and cigarette holders. There are also 50s clothes and accessories and a series of busts draped in the fashions of the era. Ash Gaming have done a great job on the visuals with this slot.

New York Excitement

Wild appears as the NY skyline with its skyscrapers blocking out a full moon. Land two or more wilds on a reel to turn that reel wild. There are stacked wilds too that will fill all four visible paylines, substantially boosting your prospects of generating a win in the process. In the base game, the various kitty cats are the most valuable symbols, with the feline nursing a cocktail worth 500 for five in a row.

Bonuses

The game’s solitary feature is the Boutique Bonus. The gift box is the symbol that will trigger this bonus feature. Land three of these symbols to secure a multiplier of anywhere between 3 and 30x your stake. Four will grant you between 24 and 60 times your stake and and five will secure between 500 and 2,000x. When you activate Boutique Bonus, you’ll be presented with eight gift boxes to choose from.

The more scatters you landed to trigger the feature, the more picks you’ll be awarded. Unfortunately, that’s it in terms of bonus play: Catwalk doesn’t offer any other feature games, nor does it provide free spins. It’s as if Ash Gaming expended all their energies on designing the visuals and then ran out of ideas by the time they got to devising features. It’s lucky this slot is so charming, which goes some way towards atoning for its lack of bonuses.

And I’m Feline Good…

Catwalk is a gorgeous looking game from Ash Gaming that’s let down only by its simplicity. Yes it looks great, and its theme is adorable. Great graphics alone don’t make for an outstanding slot however, and fun as the Boutique Bonus is, it just doesn’t feel like enough on its own. The base game is fine, and the audio and animations can’t be faulted. With another feature or jackpot prize thrown in, this slot would leave you purring like the cat that got the cream.
