Spooky yet Friendly
Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train sticks to a rather cartoonish style, with some 3D elements on top. The action is obviously taking place at a fun fair, next to the entrance to the ghost train ride. The reels are placed within a dark dungeon with chains hanging along the walls. No need to worry though, the developers have made sure that to use plenty of humour and a light tone, so nothing to fear around here.
The command bar under the reels, on the other hand, was a little too bulky to our taste. The buttons could have easily been integrated within the background in a smoother way, but instead they stand out and take up a little too much space. This is of course nothing but a detail, so let’s move on to the gameplay right away.
Let the Ride Begin
Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train lets players bet from 0.20 to 20 credits per spin on 20 paylines, set across 5 reels in total. The plus and minus buttons under the reels will help you choose your next wager very easily. You can activate the turbo mode to force the reels to spin faster, or just switch to the autoplay mode and let they follow their own course for a moment.
Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train is quite average when it comes to statistical odds. Both the RTP and volatility are standard, giving you even chances to win big or small at every turn. The reel symbols include card icons, ghosts, skulls, trains and other spooky and funny creatures. As mentioned earlier, you will have to take risks and perhaps even play all-in if you want to win big in Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train.
A Little Extra Help Is Always Welcome
Things get immediately more interesting when you start looking at the various bonus features offered in Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train. You can find wild skulls on the reels, ready to replace other icons at any time. They are relatively common in the game, but this is only the tip of the iceberg. The coconut symbols, for instance, can be scattered all over the screen and still award up to 100 times your total bet.
Three bat symbols in view also initiate a free spin mode, which is played on 50 paylines. The 10 free spins that you win are the perfect occasion to score many new big wins, with stacked wilds available. Finally, 3 ghost trains on the middle reels initiate the Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train mini game. Try to find as many monsters as you can on the ride to unlock surprise cash rewards.
The Fun Continues
For a similar game with a lower volatility, look no further than Naga King by Join Gaming. The game is actually based on the same general rules as Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train, with the exact same free spin mode, for instance. We actually found Naga King to be more visually impressive than Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train, overall.
Fairground Fortunes is another slot game, this time from Gamesys, that uses a very similar premise as Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train. There, you will get to visit the entire fun fair, with only 10 paylines to play on but some helpful bonuses available as well, including a fairly generous free spin round.
A Good Game, Just Not a Memorable One
After trying out all the features that Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train, we ended up having mix feelings about the game. On one hand, we liked the rather original theme and the spooky decor the Ash Gaming developers have used. The many bonus features are also fun to trigger, but Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train could have gone much further, in our opinion.
The main screen could have been a little more interactive, and the overall atmosphere of the game was probably not memorable enough to really stand out in the market. Fairground Fortunes Ghost Train is still a very decent slot game, but perhaps not one that we would see ourselves playing over and over again.
