This isn’t the most sophisticated game graphically but that doesn’t detract from the appeal as there’s fun, cartoon-like images. You won’t find cutting edge 3D designs but the chirpy and cheerful bee characters have a unique attraction. The background is just a simple outdoors theme with blue skies and green grass, the perfect place to find a hive of bees buzzing around. With multi coloured flowers on the reels too, plus the home hive, there’s everything that the discerning bee could ever want…
Collect Your Pollen
Bees are interested in collecting pollen but you’ll be more focussed on racking up the prizes so don’t waste any time in starting the game. There are five reels to spin, set up in the standard 5×3 configuration which include a maximum of 9 paylines. These can be reduced using the buttons below the reels if you’d rather play with less. You’ll also need to decide how much you want to bet per spin, up five coins per payline. This is the equivalent of a total min bet of 0.90 or a max bet of 45.
Tour the Hive
If you need a bit more help in deciding how much it’s worth betting, a glance through the paytable is always a good idea. You can navigate here by clicking on the button on the top right of the main screen. Spread over two pages the paytable shows that you need a line of three to make a winning combination as well as the extras that you could land.
Just like the bees collecting pollen, you can collect a whole shedload of bonuses when you play this game, as there are so many extras on the reels. As well as the standard wild actions, if you land five on the reels you’ll unlock the special reel launcher. This causes all of the wilds to reassemble into a winning combination. There’s scatters available too and these pay out whatever position they land in.
The Bees includes a bonus game too, but in order to open this hidden feature you’ll need to land a very specific combination of symbols on reels 2,3 and 4. In the bonus you have the option of either collecting flower pendants or rain drops, the former giving you credits and the latter offering special swap tokens.
Other features you can look out for include a time bonus and the Danger Bee Gone Spray which you can use to eradicate the dreaded poisonous bee whose appearance signals the end of the bonus round.
The swap tokens that you gather during the bonus round can be saved and used during regular play. After any spin you can use your swap tokens to move symbols around. This allows you to create winning combinations and rack up prizes. Remember not to change your coin denomination until you’ve used up any swap tokens though because making any alterations will automatically wipe out your swaps.
From One Bee to Another
There’s something irresistible about this bee themed slot but the good news is if you want more of the same, you’ll have lots of choice. Bee Land from Pragmatic Play has 5 reels and 20 paylines plus free spins and a bonus play too making it almost identical to the slot from Betsoft. Real Time Gaming have a similar game too – take a look at Honey to the Bee which offers 5 reels, 20 paylines and a Worker Bee wild card.
Get the Buzz
The Bees by Betsoft is what appears to be a relatively simple online video slot but it contains some unique features such as the swap tokens. Although there’s no progressive jackpot for those chasing the big wins, it’s still likely to appeal to the majority of players.
