Microgaming, NetEnt and GTech Scoop the Big Prizes at G2E

If you’re into industry news then you won’t have been able to avoid frequent mentions of the G2E Global Gaming Expo over the past few days, with arguably the world’s biggest event of its type taking place in Las Vegas. The biggest names were out in force, covering both the online and land based industries, with everyone from Microgaming to Aristocrat and Net Entertainment to IGT out in force to showcase their latest wares and innovations.

G2EOne of the most hotly anticipated parts of the entire Expo is the G2E Global Gaming Awards and we were extremely pleased to see that some of the biggest and best names around were rewarded for all of their hard work. Indeed, the top awards were all picked up by developers that we have no hesitation in recommending here on the site and, what makes the results even better, is that some of our most popular slots were directly responsible for the prizes.

We’ll kick off with two wins for a single company that serve to illustrate just how closely the online and offline worlds now exist. GTech was the beneficiary, Their Spielo subsidiary represented the bulk of what they had on show at the Expo itself, but the company itself was honoured with both the Land Based Gaming Innovation of the Year and Digital Industry Supplier of the Year awards. The former was won on the back of their Action Jackpots system which has been applied to some of their most popular land based slots and offers players the chance to win one of four different progressive jackpot prizes each and every time they spin the reels. In online terms, their Spielo platform picked up the latter award for what the company dubs their ‘total solution’ package, something that has found increasing popularity among online casinos lately.

Many in the online industry consider the biggest award of all to be Digital Product of the Year and this was picked up by Microgaming for their excellent Terminator 2 – Judgement Day online slot. It’s one of our favourite games and we must say that the award is fully deserved with the innovative use of the license and lucrative bonus game being just two of the great reasons to play the game. Speaking of which, if you have not yet had the chance to check out Terminator 2 for yourself, you can do just that right here on the site now!

Finally, Net Entertainment certainly didn’t walk away empty handed and they won what we would consider to be the most appropriate award of all: Digital Gaming Innovation of the Year. Rather than being awarded for just a single slot, the prize instead recognises the effort that the company has made to change the way slots are played over the past twelve months. Many of their biggest releases have been launched on the back of introducing brand new bonus features that are available within the main game, ensuring that nobody has to wait around for a feature round to hit. Attraction, Big Bang and the Wish Master are all excellent examples of this and should be any player’s first port of call if they want to see exactly what NetEnt has done to deserve the award over the past year.

So, both Net Entertainment and Microgaming have confirmed their positions as market leaders this month and it doesn’t get much better than winning the biggest awards at the biggest show of the year. We’ve got all of their top games right here on the site, including all of those featured in this article, so be sure to check them out for yourself. You’ll also be able to find the very best places to play their games online on the respective game pages, so there’s no better time to get spinning either with demo credits or for real cash, bonuses and prizes on offer!
