The trend in both the online and land based casino industries is currently expansion and one of the latest moves to fit into this strategy comes from Novomatic. The company announced this week that its wholly owned subsidiary Austrian Gaming Industries had taken over JVH Exploitatie and JVH Gaming Products, two Dutch companies with an impressive foothold in their domestic market. The newly combined companies, known from now on as JVH, will be part of the Novomatic portfolio and will look to grow further into the German AWP market.
The deals between the companies always looked like taking the form of a buyout rather than a partnership as Novomatic had much more to gain from wholly owning the operations of JVH. JVH Gaming Products titles are already exported from the Netherlands into Germany, providing competition for Novomatic, but JVH Exploitatie operated exclusively to serve the Dutch land based slots market. This established foothold will of course transfer to Novomatic as part of the deal and will see them cement their position as the dominant player in Europe even further. The recent establishment of another subsidiary, Novo Gaming Netherlands, provided the clearest indication yet that the country was high up on Novomatic’s list of priorities and this takeover will definitely fill in some gaps.
The acquisition also means good news for players in Novomatic’s native Germany as the company has every intention of exploiting the full JVH product range in the local market. JVH already had a reputation for producing quality games and many of these titles will now be making their way to the pubs and casinos of Germany under the Novomatic banner.
