Quantcast Playtech Joins Gaming Standards Association - Fresh Impulse or Curb?

Playtech Becomes a Member of the Gaming Standards Association

The Gaming Standards Association trade body, which promotes voluntary standards within the gaming industry, pulled off something of a coup last week by signing up its most high profile member yet. Casino gaming behemoth Playtech has joined the organisation, bringing a higher profile to the GSA while also enhancing the impeccable reputation for trust and fairness that Playtech already holds.

The GSA is looking to become the premier industry representative around the world and while Playtech is unquestionably the most renowned member, they have been snapping up big names from within the industry this year. Among those joining as Silver members in January this year were France’s Appolonia, Maxgaming from Australia, the Ortiz Machine Company of Spain and the UK’s Inspired Gaming. Following the January announcement, GSA President Peter DeRaedt commented on what it meant for the organisation at the time, saying: “[The new members] speak to the core of what GSA is all about – an association of companies who are diverse in mission and in location, who have come together for a common purpose: to collaborate on the creation of open standards that make the gaming industry better.”

One of the main goals of the GSA is to make doing business internationally much easier for those in the gaming industry, which is reflected in the cosmopolitan nature of their members. The addition of Playtech, itself a respected international name, looks set to make the entire industry sit up and take notice of what the GSA will bring to the table.

Speaking on the subject of joining the GSA, Playtech CEO Shay Segev commented: “The addition to the GSA will allow us to enhance our open platform functionality and ensure unification across providers’ offerings that will enable endless possibilities in terms of content integration. Such amalgamation will simplify both operators’ and regulators’ needs industry wide.”

The varying levels of membership within the GSA indicate the size and importance of member companies and it is no surprise that Playtech is currently the only holder of Platinum status. This indicates that the company will play a major part in any standards created within the organisation and will be highly influential in the development of the GSA going forward.
