Geckos Gone Wild is based on a classic Cadillac Jack layout, with a large reel set in the centre and a big, bulky command bar at the bottom. The background is simple and green, with flames and darker motives. Geckos Gone Wild is more subtle than in most slots, and if there is nothing truly impressive happening on the screen, the game still manages to have a very decent look in our opinion.
Geckos Gone Wild puts the focus back on the reels and gives players a clear path to follow in terms of gameplay. We will take a closer look at the most basic rules of the game in our next section.
How to Place Your First Bets
Geckos Gone Wild is a high-variance slot game with a 5×3 set and 20 fixed paylines on which to bet. You can adjust your wager on a scale going from 20 to 200 credits at will thanks to the different arrow buttons underneath the reels. There is no max bet button available so you will have to adjust your settings manually whenever you want to play all-in. The classic autoplay game mode, on the other hand, is ready for use at any time.
You will find both card icons, cacti, game logos and more on the reels of Geckos Gone Wild. These basic combinations can take you up to a x1000 cash prize, if you are lucky. The high variance of the game made it tough for us to score the highest prizes, but we were surprised to discover quite a few useful bonus features on the reels as well.
Not Just One, but Two Jokers to the Rescue
Geckos Gone Wild features two wild symbols, and this is where you finally get to meet the famous lizards. The blue one is your regular joker card, with an additional prize awarded in case of a combination (up to x5000). The yellow wild gecko behaves in the same way, and if you score a 5-symbol combination while playing all-in, the ultimate x50,000 jackpot will be yours.
The stone ovens are scatters in Geckos Gone Wild, and finding at least 3 of them anywhere on the reels is enough to start winning extra cash prizes. Moreover, scatter combinations can also unlock up to 60 free spins, during which all of your rewards are doubled.
Not as Memorable as You Might Think
Geckos Gone Wild is easy and fun to play, but we were a little disappointed to see so few gecko symbols on the reels. The 2 wilds are very useful, but we would have loved to see the entire paytable filled with colourful lizards sticking on walls instead of the classic menu that Geckos Gone Wild is actually providing.
In a nutshell, Geckos Gone Wild is based on virtually the same gameplay as many other Cadillac Jack games such as Double The Devil, just to name one. The game universe is the only thing that was supposed to make Geckos Gone Wild stand out, and we felt a little let down by it when we tested the game. Otherwise, this classic and fast-paced slot game has some very interesting rewards to offer, if you are willing to play big.
