Anyone who has a penchant for online slots will probably tell you that Genesis Gaming doesn’t quite fit the bill of a big time online casino software developer. In fact, it’s probably quite the opposite, as the brand tends to skate along under the radar. Unknown for the most part, Genesis Gaming still isn’t giving up its quest to rub shoulders with the industry’s giants. Taking on a more animalistic approach to slots action, the latest creation from the developer is called A Bark in the Park.

The life of pets certainly appears to be a common theme in the world of entertainment, but it is not a theme that is easy to pull off. Taking on the challenge, does A Bark in the Park roar with pride? There’s only one way to find out, so check out our review below!

Taking a Casual Stroll

The name of A Bark in the Park pretty much tells players all they need to know about the theme here, as the game doesn’t really deliver anything out of the ordinary. The game seems to set players on some kind of virtual dog walk, as the backdrop represents a park pathway. To be honest, the theme of this real money slots title is a bit bland, even by the standards of Genesis Gaming. Some extra added oomph, or even just some additional detail, is desperately needed here.

The actual theme of A Bark in the Park isn’t going to do all that much to draw you to the game, but what about what’s on the reels? Well, there is very little shout (or should we say bark) about there either. The low-value symbols are pretty generic, while even the dogs (that represent the high value symbols) look bored stiff. In design, A Bark in the Dark had plenty of potential, but it doesn’t act on any of it.

Barking Loud and Proud

The sheer drabness of the theme here is partly made up for by some impressive gameplay, as A Bark in a Dark has rolled out one our favourite features. Across the 5 reels here you’ll find that there are an amazing 1024 ways to win. Ditching all the usual payline selection fuss, this game is practically open season when it comes to finding a way to win. A flexible betting structure is thrown in too, as wagers range from 0.40 all the way up to 20.00 per spin.

Off the Lead and the Lost

A Bark in the Park really is a case one-step forward two steps back, as the gameplay here appears to be handcuffed by some really shoddy bonus features. The game really is boring in this department, as very little here will give players reason to get excited.

The scatter symbols are probably the lead feature here, as they roll out plenty of free spins. For that reason we certainly recommend that you can keep an eye for the golden paw print. On top of that, the dog leads symbol is the wild, with this substituting for other symbols to “lead” you towards a winning combination.

Pulling You All of over the Place

Genesis Gaming has once again gone down the multi-screen control route and we can’t say that we are fans of the move. A Bark in the Park is nothing short of cumbersome to work, as you have to jump through different menus in order to set the game up to your liking. This approach is just plain annoying in our eyes and something that Genesis Gaming really needs to address in future releases.

A Bark in the Park Is All Bark and No Bite!

Where do you really begin with A Bark in the Park? Generally, this game is a little disappointing, as the fun gameplay simply can’t pull up what otherwise is pretty boring medium variance release. Genesis Gaming is certainly making strides as far as game improvements are concerned, but you really wouldn’t know that from this game.

All bark and pretty much no bite, A Bark in the Park is a game that is worth steering clear of if you’re looking for something fun and enjoyable to play, as this game just doesn’t fit the bill.
