For those of you who are not familiar with the term, “schlager” is a German word meaning “hits” and that points at catchy, popular songs with often sentimental lyrics – a perfect choice for the Eurovision song contest, for instance. In Schlagermillions from Genesis Gaming, you will get the chance to listen to some of these songs and perhaps win big cash prizes thanks to them as well.

Schlagermillions is a high volatility video slot game with a 97.26% high RTP. With only 5 paylines to bet on, the game sounds very promising for experienced gamblers, or anyone up for a challenge. There are also a few surprises awaiting, as we will see in our complete review of Schlagermillions right away.

Let the Music Take Over

Schlagermillions is putting players right under the spotlight, as the reels are floating above a large stage with flashing lights on top. The view is the best you can get from anywhere in the concert hall, with a surprisingly retro command bar at the bottom of the screen. Typical schlager music will be playing continuously throughout the game, so you will have to be ready for that as well.

Schlagermillions took its inspiration from an unlikely source, making it quite unique on the current market. As far as standing out goes, Schlagermillions is certainly going to make a strong impression on newcomers. That being said, we couldn’t really say that the game uses particularly impressive graphics per se, or is taking players to some wonderful, fantasy destination either.

Make up Your Own Lyrics

Schlagermillions might look different, but it still works like any other modern slot game on the market. The 5 reels contain 5 paylines, with the possibility to bet from 0.25 to 100 credits per turn, which is more than we expected given the low number of ways to win across the reels. Apart from an autoplay mode, Schlagermillions features two mini games that you can activate after each win. One will double your reward, while the other gives you a chance to multiply it by 3.

The high volatility of the game combined with the 5-payline setup makes Schlagermillions feel quite challenging, in spite of the high RTP. The paytable itself contains VIP concert tickets, Champagne bottles, records, turntables, microphones and everything you can think of when it comes to live music, with a top prize set at x100.

A Little Help

The “I love schlager” logo operates as a scatter in Schlagermillions, able to release up to 75 times your line bet wherever it lands. This will come particularly handy as it can bypass the small number of paylines available, thus boosting your winning possibilities every time it shows up on the screen.

The star symbol is a wild that can replace the other icons and help you win more in Schlagermillions. Wild combinations can also award up to x200 on their own. On top of this, finding 3 or more wilds scattered around the screen grants you access to the Schlagermillions free spin mode. You can win up to 25 free spins in the process, with certain basic symbols turning wild as you spin the reels.

Second Act

Stay in the music universe and check out Live Jazz, another slot game from Genesis Gaming. You will find the same settings as in Schlagermillions there, with the exact same sky-high RTP as well. On the other hand, Live Jazz has a lower volatility, which in our experience can translate into more accessible cash prizes, overall.

If you are looking for a few extra ways to win, the Lost Temple by Merkur is a decent choice. In a very different environment, this game offers 10 paylines while sticking to the same basic rules as in Schlagermillions. All of these slot games can prove quite challenging, so be aware of that.

Original Theme, Tough Settings

Schlagermillions has some unlikely settings and few ways to win, which makes it more challenging than average. Despite a high RTP, the base game simply felt a little difficult and repetitive for us. On a side note, you might also want to reach for the mute button after a little while, unless you are a hard-core schlager fan.

The free spin bonus does bring some fresh air to the players. We simply wished that it came with some new paylines, or perhaps a multiplier that would make each win a little more interesting. Overall, we thought that Schlagermillions didn’t really live up to its name and failed to deliver the millions it promised.
