Up in the Clouds
For saying this is meant to be a divine experience, the aesthetics of Angels Touch are surprisingly lacklustre; there’s an airiness about them, but there’s no glorious impact. All gamers will see fluffy white clouds and some golden gates opening up to them, but that’s as far as it goes. Suffice to say, heaven is looking a little barren and less holy than we might have all been hoping for.
Nonetheless, the design serves a wider purpose, as it provides a fairly blank canvas for you to paint the experiences of your game onto. Furthermore, the general layout of the game is the same as most slot machines available, and so adapting will come to you instantaneously. Heaven may not be fancy in Angels Touch, but it’s convenient.
Naughty but Nice
If you’ve cared to take a look at the paytable, you’ll note that one of the top paying icons (the scatter) has a rather saucy angel decorated upon it. Instead of going for the cleancut imagery we were expecting, this angel has legs for days and a mischievous glint in her eyes, which we can only assume is from the excitement of all those free games she carries.
To feel her touch upon you, you’ll need between three and five of her tiles upon the grid, though fortunately they can be played anywhere. Once you have the correct number, and have coaxed this purely devilish lady to play with you, you’ll trigger the Angels Touch Bonus. Thereafter you’ll have to pick from eight of the clouds shown to you; does anyone else feel like an opportunity to have a cloud nine pun was missed here?
Out of the choices provided, you can land on several different symbols. From trumpets to x5 multipliers, and even the devil himself; once you’ve uncovered two of him, your pick me bonus will end. Then you’ll finally get to savour the rush of the additional spins as you play for extra wilds and godlike multipliers.
Up the Ante
Upon the control panel, in among the mundane widgets you’ve probably seen before, is a feature you won’t have come across: the Play Feature +10 button. This option allows you to add 10 more winlines, which of course increases your chances of unlocking the Angels Touch Bonus. However, on the flip side of that you will have a more costly bet, due to having a bigger grid to play upon. Personally, we find the payoff more than reasonable, especially if you’re playing with the lower wage setting rather than the top amount.
I’m in Heaven
We have to hand it to Lightning Box Games, they’ve taken a rather tense subject matter and turned it into a fun way of making money. Yes, as we said before, the aesthetics aren’t as golden as we’d have expected or have liked, but considering the medium variance found here, that dropping of the ball seems more than acceptable. What is more, you have that +10 feature that helps to raise the roof even higher, which in turn leads to a more compelling experience.
Angels Touch is adaptable, easy to play, and above all it’s budget friendly, allowing for more players to enjoy its good will and nature.
