Emperor of China
In terms of graphics, Fortune Pays might not be very original but still starts off stronger that Fortune 8 Cat, another Lightning Box creation. The background of this game shows a beautiful Chinese landscape that could have been taken from a painting, with tall peaks in the distance and beautiful flowers blossoming all over the screen.
The reels and command bar underneath them are integrated within the structure of a golden pavilion, with elegant ornaments that are very pleasing to the eye. In a nutshell, Fortune Pays looks like a classic Chinese slot game, but with superior graphic quality and we really enjoyed exploring the game screen.
May the Fortune Be with You
Fortune Pays is based on a 5×4 grid with 50 fixed paylines, which gives players a very decent array of options to win prizes at every turn. The betting range, as a consequence, starts at 0.50 and ends at 25.00 credits per spin. This means that you will have no choice but play big in Fortune Pays, which is great news for high rollers of course. The command bar under the reels will let you choose a wager and activate the autospin mode whenever you feel the need to.
The game’s announced medium betting range is a classic feature of Lightning Box Games, but we felt that unlocking prizes was a little easier in Fortune Pays than in many other slots of the same makers. This is of course great news, so get out there and try to line up the card icons, fish, birds, dragons and lotus flowers to try and win up to 5000 credits – when playing all-in.
Generous Bonuses on Top
Fortune Pays is quite generous with classic bonus features. We begin with the lucky cat statue, which is the wild card of the game. Even though it can only appear on the 3 central reels, this little feline is able to replace the basic icons at will and double the value of the subsequent combinations. Wilds always appear stacked over entire reels as well. The golden coins, however, are scatters and cannot be substituted by wilds. 3 or more of them anywhere on the reels start unlocking extra cash prizes, with a jackpot set at 62,500 credits for the boldest players out there.
On top of this, 3 or more scatters award a bonus round of 10 free spins, during which all rewards are multiplied by 3. The dragon symbols, the most valuable from the basic paytable, will also be stacked up during the free games, which you can retrigger by scoring more scatters.
Not Original, and yet Highly Addictive
Fortune Pays is overall a classic slot game, with classic rules and a classic theme. Starting from this, the developers have created a beautiful game universe, added generous cash prizes in the base game and very generous bonuses on top.
In a nutshell, Fortune Pays is the perfect example of a well-done classic. Sometimes, you just don’t need to look very far to find an entertaining and rewarding new slot game. If you are a fan of this sort of high-stakes gameplay, you may also want to check out Zodiac Wilds from Amaya.
