Upon first hearing the name ‘Belle Rock’, the idea that first comes to our minds is that a Southern country girl from Georgia is going to be the basis of the game. However, that’s not totally the case. And whether that’s a good thing or not is open to your own personal tastes. Instead, the game presents you with what is apparently based on the idea of gaming and gambling, and it’s actually only available at various different casinos under the Belle Rock brand. Because this is its underlying theme, there really isn’t anything that stands out dramatically when playing it. It’s a game about gaming, which theoretically provides enough of a theme to present players with some visual delights. And while it is nicely designed as far as the inclusive graphics are concerned, overall, it’s not specifically anything special in that area. However, there’s a few preferential customisation options included, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Gamble on a Gambling Game

We wouldn’t expect anything less from this game than for it to have five reels and three rows. After all, it is quite a standard video slot when you look at it. This is, of course, a fairly regular slot game layout, and added on to the reels of the product are a few different gaming icons, starting with the card suits of clubs, hearts, spades and diamonds, as well as the picture cards Jack, Queen, King and finally Ace. A joker has also been added to the reels to make up the playing card sets. However, there’s also the addition of one or two random symbols, such as the girl wearing a cowboy hat, or the imagery of golden stars against a blue illuminated background. There is the addition of a poker chip, which is of course, relative to the game, while the Gaming Club logo, River Belle logo, Jackpot City logo and Lucky Nugget logo have all been incorporated as well.

Alongside its mass of icons and general interface, Belle Rock also incorporates a total of nine separate pay lines in to its offerings. You do have the option of altering these, so if you have a preference for wagering on fewer, you can use the ‘Select Lines’ button at your leisure. Furthermore, you can change the amount of coins you wager per round, as well as the value of a single coin. If you want to change the latter of these, there is a plus button and a minus button which sees the amount change from its minimum of $0.01 up to $2 per line. The maximum amount of coins you can wager is 45, so you have the chance to place a maximum overall wager of $90 per round.

Casino Game Specialities

Because this game is just about a game representation of casino games, you’d think that there would be room for Microgaming to insert a few intriguing specials relating to such. Perhaps a roulette wheel round, or a side game of blackjack, for example. Well, unfortunately not. It does have one or two additional features, although they’re nothing so grand as what several other video slots include in their offerings. The Belle Rock Entertainment logo does act as a wild symbol though, and in doing so, it will substitute for all other symbols on the reels, except for the golden Belle Rock lettering. The wild icon is the game’s highest paying symbol as well, providing you with up to 10,000 times your line bet when five appear on a winning pay line. This will also double your pay line wins when acting as a stand in.

As far as the previously mentioned golden lettering goes, this is what will act as the game’s scatter symbol. These offer a pay out in whichever location they appear in, and if you manage to spin three or more, you’ll also activate the freespins round of the game on top. You’ll be provided with an initial amount of 15 freespins, and you have the potential to re-trigger these with three more scatters during the round. All wins during freespins are tripled.

A Game About Games…Entertaining?

There is quite a lot of room for improvement in such a game, especially considering it comes from such a big name developer like Microgaming. The basis for the product is good, but on the whole, it fails to lack any sort of big impact. Enjoyable for a short while, but not something we want to keep returning back to, in all honesty.
