‘Double Dose’ does have a rather strange theme. We get to see a sexy looking nurse drawn in Manga style with green hair and a stethoscope around her neck. I thought it was the doctors who had those, but perhaps they’re short on staff at the hospital she works at. Surrounding her are love hearts but rather worryingly in her right-hand she has a massive syringe that I wouldn’t like having come anywhere near me. All of this is seen in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen directly underneath the reels.
Despite the lack of any bonus game (par for the course with these three-reel games), this is still an entertaining game. It has a good look to it and the top prize on offer is certainly worth chasing. If you are new to slot games, then ‘Double Dose’ is a gentle introduction for you. It’s probably better you try a simple game like this rather than try to work out a complicated bonus game.
Symbols in this game aren’t exactly spectacular, they never seem to be in these three-reel slot games. We get the single, double and triple bars, the cherries and the red 7’s. There’s no sign of that nurse on the actual reels. Instead, we get the Double Dose logo but that’s the most important symbol in this game.
The logo is the wild symbol and can substitute for all the other symbols in the game. When it manages to substitute, and get you a win then that windfall is doubled if one wild is involved. If it’s two, then the win is quadrupled so that’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for.
There’s only the one pay-line in this game, you’ll be feeling a bit deprived when compared to the 40 or 50 you might play in other Microgaming slot games. At least here you know where the actual pay-line is.
With no decision to be made over how many pay-lines to activate, the big decision is the coin stake and how many coins to place on each spin. The coin range goes from €0.25 to €50. How many coins you place is very important here.
If you go for one coin using the ‘Bet One’ button and get, for example, three red 7’s you win 100x your coin stake. If opting for two coins, it’s 200x. Three triple bars win you 50x or 100x. So, if you want the big wins it’s an idea to opt for two coins on each spin of the reels but only do that if you can afford it. The top win is for three of the Double Dose logos and that pays either 800x or 1600x. That means the minimum stake required to be in with a chance of winning the top prize is €0.50 and the maximum €100 so high rollers might show some interest in this game.
This is a straightforward game to play. All the control buttons are down the bottom of the screen. It’s easy to set your stake and how many coins you want to play. Just press either the ‘Bet One’ button or the ‘Bet Max’ one. You can also set an autoplay in ‘Double Dose’. To do so you need to be playing in expert mode which is the button above the Help button (that brings up a set of game rules).
You can either settle for 5x or 10x automated spins or set a more precise number. Just click on the autoplay button and you can set a figure allowing the spins to stop if your balance reaches a certain level, good or bad or you get a win you want to keep in your account balance.
A rather strange theme for sure but a colourful game that is fun to play. Only keep playing at two coins’ level if you can afford to do that. It’s basic and there’s no bonus game here but it’s still worth having a play.
