Full Steam Ahead
This three-reel slot from Microgaming doesn’t just look back at the good old days in terms of how this game looks and plays. It also has a theme of a train, not any train but a good old-fashioned steam train.
It looks a bit like one of the trains that go round and round in that train set you might have in the loft. We actually get a little bit of animation in this game with the steam trailing from the train as it pulls along its load of gold. Now if that gold belonged to me (I wish), I’d be a little bit worried about the security with this railway firm because it’s not even covered with anything. Anyway, the train and the Jackpot Express logo gives the game a pleasant look that gets you in the mood to play it.
It’s the gold in the truck that is the highest paying symbol in this game. It’s also the only symbol that has anything to do with the theme of the game. I get the feeling that the person responsible for creating symbols might have been a bit busy when it came to designing this one. The gold truck is also the wild symbol in this game but sadly when it substitutes for other symbols to get you a win, there’s no multiplier attached to it.
When you look at the reels (which are in the top left-hand corner of the screen), you’ll see that apart from the gold symbol, there’s just the single, double and triple bars and the red 7’s. That means there are just six different winning combinations. No wonder the boxes in the paytable are so large.
The game has three-reels but there are a total of five pay-lines here. That’s the most you ever seem to get with this kind of games but a lot have less.
If you want to be able to win the top prize in this game, you need to be playing with five coins. Each coin you stake activates another pay-line and the top prize of 5000x is only paid out when you get three gold trucks on the fifth pay-line. The other top wins available are 1000x, 1500x, 2000x and 2500x when the truck appears on the first four pay-lines.
The coin range goes from €0.25 up to €5. Therefore, if playing all five of the coins in order to have a chance of winning the jackpot, the minimum cost is €1.25 and the maximum €25. Just take a look at how much you can afford to play without causing any financial problems.
The other winning combinations don’t rely on the number of coins being played on each spin of the reels. You get 80x for three red 7’s and 60x for three of the triple bars.
This isn’t one of the more complicated Microgaming releases. It’s still a good idea to look through the rules and have some free games for a spot of training (sorry). Just click the Help button to find out all you need to know about this game.
The game can be played in either regular or expert mode. The only real difference is that in expert mode, you can set some automated spins. It’s possible to set your own figure so the automated spins stop when you get a certain win or your balance gets to a particular level, good or bad.
A fairly straightforward release from Microgaming. It’s easy to play and the wild symbol helps get you some wins. Just be careful with your budget if continually trying to get your hands on the jackpot.
