Search for the Sun
Looking for the sun isn’t as easy as you might think. You might be expecting a game that has a backdrop that has a gorgeous looking tropical island where the sun shines every day of the week. That’s not the case here though as there isn’t a backdrop at all.
This is a rather basic Microgaming slot and the symbols are dominated by fruit rather than sunbathers. There are five fruit symbols, namely lemons, oranges, cherries, watermelons and strawberries. This gives the game a real retro feel which is surprising really because with Microgaming that usually means a three-reel game rather than a five-reel one. Other symbols that will be familiar to those who have been playing slot games for a while are bells, gold bars, diamonds, 7’s and a gold coin.
On the five reels, there are a total of nine pay-lines which aren’t a fixed amount. It’s therefore up to you to decide how many to activate. It’s not the cheapest of game to be honest but there are some good cash wins to be had. If you want to play all nine pay-lines, the minimum cost is going to be €2.25, the maximum you can spend on one spin is €90. It’s just a case of working out exactly how much you can afford to risk playing this slot. The top prize is well worth winning though with five gold coins on an active pay-line paying 10,000x your line bet.
Other big wins include 1000x your line bet for five diamonds and 900x for five 7’s. What is handy though is the fact just two of the top paying symbols gets you a win, for example 12x for two gold coins or diamonds.
The Sun Shines at Last
So just where is the sun in this game? Well it’s finally arrived as the wild symbol which shows a luxury yacht, palm trees and the sun setting in the background. Typical, you finally see the sun and it’s setting. The wild can substitute for other symbols to complete winning combinations. It doesn’t appear on all of the reels though, just on the second, third and fourth.
Seeing the sun really is a job in this slot. It can’t substitute for the scatter symbol which is the multi-coloured one on the reels. Three of these anywhere on the reels wins you 50x your bet. That’s quite handy as it means you don’t have to be activating all the pay-lines to be in with a chance of winning that prize.
This isn’t a complicated game at all but it’s still worth taking a look at the paytable. That has all the details you need as far as how much each winning combination pays out. It also shows you where each of the pay-lines is on the reels. Some free games are also an idea to show you the game in action before you start putting some real cash in.
It’s also possible to set some automated spins of the reels. You can only do that if playing in expert mode. It’s possible to set either 5x or 10x automated spins or set a more precise one.
The big problem with this slot is that there’s no bonus game. That certainly makes the game have a bit of retro feel. It may put a fair few of you off though, but remember that 10,000x jackpot and aim for that.
The lack of a bonus game may put some people off but this is still a game that offers a lot to its players. The Sunquest name is perhaps a bit misleading but if you are new to slot games, then this is ideal for you before moving onto the more complicated games that Microgaming produce. The fact higher value symbols pay out for just two matching ones is quite handy too and keeps your account balance ticking over nicely.
