When I was growing up, the slot games I used to play were dominated by fruit. They didn’t really turn me towards eating them that much as it was usually a case of playing down the amusement arcade then off to the chippy for supper. It’s good therefore to occasionally see a game that has those beloved fruit symbols back again and that’s the case in this Microgaming slot release ‘SunTide’
This really does take me back to those days with the large reels and fruity symbols galore. The size of the symbols means there’s no room for an elaborate backdrop to the game but we still get to see the sun and some birds so the game does have an attractive look to it. As you’ll read though, the symbols may hark back to the past but there are plenty of features that will satisfy those who like modern-day games.
There are five reels in this game, three rows of symbols and a total of nine pay-lines, a lot more than there used to be in the past when often we had just the single one. You have no choice in this game but to play all the nine pay-lines in this game. Your decision therefore is how much cash to splash out on each spin of the reels. The minimum cost of playing is €0.09 and the maximum a total of €45 so not one to get the high-rollers queuing up to play. All that you need to do is work out a budget and have a good time playing this game.
The symbols really do bring back some great memories of playing fruit machines while my mum tried her luck on the bingo. There’s oranges, watermelons, strawberries, cherries and lemons. It’s not all about fruit though as there’s also some diamonds, sevens, gold bars and bells.
This may have a retro look to it but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t got a wild symbol. It’s the gold coin that has ‘S’ inscribed on it and hopefully it’ll make some regular appearances for you. It can substitute for other symbols to get you some good wins but can’t do that for the scatter symbol. That’s the tropical sunset that looks gorgeous and will please you even more if it gets you in the bonus game.
Check Out Reel Three
The wild symbol really does help get you some good winning combinations and that’s definitely the case in the base game. That’s because if it ends up on the third reel then it can expand to fill all the positions on the reel If that’s going to get you a win, very handy indeed.
You can find out more about this game in the paytable. The game also includes an autoplay feature, handy if you need some time away from the computer. This can be set from 10 automated spins of the reels to 100. It’s also possible to set a customized figure allowing you to stop them if your balance decreases by a certain amount or you get a good win.
Sunny Free Spins
To get 15 free spins you need to get three or more of the tropical sunset scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. The chances of you getting plenty of wins during the free spins round are increased by that ever useful wild. Whereas in the base game it can only expand on the third reel, here in the free spins round it can do that on the second, third and fourth reels. That’s going to do your account balance the power of good. Even more good news is the fact that you can re-trigger the free spins if those scatters come calling again.
This may have a bit of an old-fashioned look to it but that’s no problem as far as this reviewer is concerned. The theme is a good one and everything looks bright and cheerful. Your mood will be the same if those wilds go round expanding all over the place and the free spins round can be really lucrative if your luck is in.
