Wild Shamrock Slot
3 votes

If you’re into gaming while on the move, with a particular passion for modern day slot machines, you’re in luck as Mobilots has created Wild Shamrock. As you’ve probably guessed by the title, this is an Irish themed game that falls into the wealth and money category of slots. And why – well, do you ever see an Irish slot that isn’t about pots of gold?

In terms of predictability, this 5-reel example isn’t as typical in regards to design as you’d think, nor is the paytable. In fact, the paytable threw us for six, mainly due to the lack of depth. Nevertheless, with an animated interface and cheap betting range, we’re ready to tackle whatever these leprechauns might have in store for us.

Do a Jig

The location for this game is a little unusual in that it takes place in a theatre. When we’ve played Irish slots in the past, they’re normally presented in a grid that’s surrounded by hills and sunshine, but that isn’t what we get here. Here it looks like a load of little green men are about to come dancing out onto the middle of the stage, doing a slight jig for us as we spin for wins. Sadly, that isn’t what happens, but we can dream.

Even though the design looks considerably different to other slots of this calibre, the imagery inside the matrix soon stops that, for they’re all typical of the theme. You have rainbows, gold, leprechauns, pints of ale and pipes; you can’t move for all the stereotyping going on here. It isn’t that we mind so much, but more that we’d like a brand to try and go against the grain once in awhile rather than playing it safe.

On the Dark Side

As you’ve seen for yourself, this is a rather airy and light hearted themed game, filled with joy, so if you’re looking for something more menacing, you’re going to have to get your fix elsewhere. Perhaps by playing Play’N Go’s Leprechaun Goes to Hell. As the name so aptly suggests, this fella has been incredible naughty, earning himself a place on the throne of the Devil. Hardly the stuff of children’s dreams.

Even if you decide not to test out this devilish option, it goes a long way to demonstrate how varied this type of real cash slot is, and how popular. There’s so many online titles for you to try, with so many other brands, however we think you’ll prefer sticking with mobile friendly brands if you’ve been playing with Mobilots.

Lucky Clover

The wild icon can expand when it appears, taking over the whole reel. It’ll only affect the second, third or fourth columns, so obviously this isn’t a feature that triggers often. Having said that, we managed to activate it with relative ease, even when playing the demo version, going to show it can be done.

This expanding wild is a lot more lucky than most though, for it will cause a chain reaction respin whenever more wilds turn up on the reels. Wild Shamrock will continue doing this until there’s no more wilds to expand. Sadly, although it looks good when it first occurs, you soon become bored of the substance because of how lacklustre the feature really is. This is the only special in the entire game, which is a surprising move from the brand.

Paying the Toll

Before we leave you to enjoy this title in peace, we need to talk about the betting range here. Although it’s broad and thus accessible to all gamers, what you bet has a bearing on your experience. If you play it safe, you’re going to get a less risky but rather disappointing set of prizes, whereas high rollers will be rewarded for their daring behaviour. The most anyone can obtain from a combo is 500 credits, meaning you get quite a lot back for simply wagering the maximum 20-coin bet. However, if you want bigger bucks, you need to go and seek out more generous leprechauns.

What a Sham

It pains us to say this, mainly because of how much we love convenient gaming, but Wild Shamrock isn’t a real cash slot we can get behind. Even though it has some good points, such as the user friendly interface, it has a paytable without any presence or substance. Consequently, you end up going through the motions with this title in a relatively short space of time, which could be a positive or negative depending on what your preference is.
