The Reel Deal
When you feel ready to take the plunge move onto the main reels and set up your bets to begin play. There are 5 reels and these include a maximum of 25 paylines, but you don’t have to play on them all if you’d rather have less which are active. Although 25 paylines gives you more chances of a win there is also a higher cost per spin. If you click on the Stake & Lines tab which is visible on the left side of the gameboard you can lower the number of active paylines to whatever number you prefer.
At the same time as confirming the paylines you can also set the total bet. You could leave the paylines unchanged and lower the stake; this will have the effect of reducing the bet but giving you the same opportunities of a win. The entry level for play is just 0.01 per payline and this equates to a total min bet of 0.25. You can ramp the betting right up to 1.00 per payline which gives a total max bet of 25.00.
No Big Money Bonus
In most cases you will inevitably be keeping your fingers crossed for a large win on the slots and although it’s possible to scoop payouts from the base game, on most occasions it’s the bonus features which add the big wins. Sadly with Cave Raiders HD all bonus features and extra plays have been excluded, so there’s not really anything more than the basics on the reels. For some players, the absence of any features might render the game unplayable, and it is a sore spot in what is otherwise a well-executed slot.
There is scant reward because there are wilds in this game, a special symbol that’s added to the majority of slots. Players who are regulars will instantly recognise the functions of a wild. It stands in for other symbols on the reels and makes it much simpler to line up symbols to win. Apart from the wild there is a single other special symbol of interest and this is what would normally be described as the scatter. If you land three of these anywhere on the reels it will unlock the free spins phase. Unlike in other games, this scatter won’t give you a cash win. The amount of free spins you receive will be variable and when you are playing there’s nothing to flesh out these free spins such as special features or new symbols.
Many of these archeological adventure games can’t help but bring to mind visions of the original Raiders of the Lost Ark and there’s certainly more than a sprinkling of inspiration taken from this film. Treasures of Tombs is an online video slot which is very reminiscent of the hit film but developer Playson has done a great job! There’s 5 reels and 9 paylines with graphics which are low lit and atmospheric – just keep a look out for `a large boulder which could roll towards you at any time.
Developer Nektan has created some confusion with the title of this slot as it’s not just an upgraded version of Cave Raiders, another similar title released by them. Cave Raiders HD takes the same characters from the other game and moves them into a different setting, creating another online video slot which is admittedly very similar, but with some distinct differences. If you liked the first one, this will be a big hit for you, too, but expect the same basic play and lack of bonus features.
