Fire in the Hole!
The background to the sizzling slot is a fiery one, with dancing flames licking the reels. Surrounding the reels are twelve arrows of varying sizes with the word ‘Repeat’ in the central pointer – this is part of the game’s bonus feature. Being a fruit machine, all your favourite lucky red sevens, golden bells and fruits are the online slot’s symbols. Red sevens and golden bells are the icons you hope to get as they’re worth the most; five matching sevens and bells give you a flaming 8000x and 4000x your bet respectively. The fruit symbols are divided into two groups according to their value. The high-value fruits include pears, strawberries, grapes and watermelons; landing 3, 4 or 5 of these icons gets you 80x, 400x and 600x your total bet. Cherries, lemons, oranges, and plums are the low-value symbols; 3, 4 or 5 matching icons gives you 40x, 120x, and 400x your total bet. Disappointingly, there are no special symbols like Wilds or Scatters which trigger bonus features like free spins – I know right? Who doesn’t love free spins?!
Overall, the graphics on this slot are great, much better than some of their previous fruit machine inspired slots. I particularly liked how the fruit symbols catch fire when you hit a winning combination. The soundtrack has also been given a musical upgrade and is not their annoying usual sound. As a matter of fact, I think the music is well suited to the slot.
Spin, Win, Repeat!
Red Hot Repeater is a high variance slot, meaning that it gives fewer wins, but bigger when they do come. It has a 5×3 reel layout and 10 fixed pay-lines set by default, therefore the minimum total bet is 40 credits and the maximum bet is 10,000 credits. The RTP, how much the game pays back, is 95.67%. Being a high volatility game, make sure to budget your bankroll by playing the lowest bet size possible so that you won’t run out of money too soon.
Let’s Talk About Bonus Features
Now onto the game’s single bonus feature, the repeater bonus. After every win, it is activated, and great balls of fire! It’s a lucrative one! The arrows will flash red and move in a clockwise direction around the reels. If it stops on ‘Repeat’ you are awarded the sum of your initial prize again. The feature continues until the arrows fall short of ‘Repeat’. As you can see, this has the potential of being a very profitable feature, especially if you land some sevens or bells on a win-line. Some repeat wins may even be multiplied up to 10x your bet with the bonus multiplier which works in the same way as the repeat bonus; each arrow will be worth a multiplier in this case.
Underneath the reels is a very useful bar which indicates you how much you’ve won with and without the repeat feature (it’s called the Repeat Total). It’s great watching the numbers grow and multiply before your eyes!
As with all Novomatic slots, the game has its own gamble feature which again gives you the opportunity to double your winnings even after they’ve been doubled by the repeat feature. All there is to do is guess the colour of the Ace in the sequence. You are also given a set of cards to help you decide what’s coming next.
The game is hot and easily profitable! I much prefer it to some of Novomatic’s past fruity slots, like Grand Jester. Yet, does the one bonus feature make up for the lack of free spins and special symbols? I’ll leave that for you to decide. If you’re a fan of fruity online video slots and straightforward gameplay, then this is the slot for you. If you need free spins and more bonus features to quench the fire inside, then slots like Novomatic’s Kingdom of Legend and Barcrest’s Rainobow Riches are the way to go.
