Getting fruity is the nature of the game when you play Fruit Fall, a 5-reel traditionally designed slot machine, from Italian company Octavian Gaming. Upon first glance, you might assume that there’s not a lot of diversity to be found here, which in turn means that the excitement you can experience will be limited, but that isn’t the case. Although the features are rather selective, they generate more than enough variance, and it’s all thanks to the two wild symbols.

If you think you know all that there is to know about vintage based slots, this game may just throw a few surprises your way. And if it doesn’t, at the very least you’ll walk away with a couple of wins under your belt, and a potential cash prize worth 1,000 credits.

No Fuss

As much as we appreciate exploring new worlds created by real cash slot developers, we can’t deny the allure of getting back to basics and experiencing a slot removed of gimmicks and frills. Removed of novelty doesn’t mean the grid is devoid of entertainment though, even if the graphics say to the contrary; this is an old aged slot now, and so when compared with newcomers, it’s starting to look its age.

You’ll find fruits and numbers scattered about the interface and a rather tacky soundtrack that sounds like it belongs in a bad taste hotel, but all of it comes together to blast us into the past.

Wild Wild West

There’s double trouble lurking on these 20 paylines, thanks to the inclusion of not one but two wilds, easily distinguished due to the x2 slapped on one of the symbols. Alone they lack any uniqueness whatsoever, subbing other icons whenever they appear. However, should they land together as a pair and substitute at the same time, as part of a winning combination, a special bonus is unlocked: the Cascade Feature.

The feature has simple mechanics, but it can gift you a lot of consecutive prizes, and the reason for this is due to the disappearance of successful combinations. Typically when a win is made, every reel gets a refresh of symbols, but with a cascade bonus, the successful tiles disappear while the others remain, with other icons quickly filling the spaces left behind. By leaving the old icons in place, you increase the chance of another win being made, hence the name of the round.

Pinball Wizard

Having seen one set of gamble options after another, we weren’t too fussed when we noticed that Fruit Fall Slots had one, but boy we were wrong not to get excited. Instead of a dull card based guessing game, or a higher or lower ladder, you have a pinball machine to play with.

You launch a ball and it’ll bounce around the table, sometimes hitting a x5 multiplier on the way to the bottom; the hope is that you land the ball into one of the two x2 exits, rather than the LOST ones.

This was such a breath of fresh air for us, and we’re certain it will be for the majority of other gamers, for no other gamble feature has been seen that looks and plays quite like this one. For an old style slot machine, Fruit Fall has some nifty tricks up its sleeve, and in places you wouldn’t think to look.

Old Dog, New Tricks

Fruit Fall Slots isn’t just proof that fun can be found from unlikely sources, but that older games still have a lot of entertainment to deliver its users, all you need to do is be brave enough to play them.

In an industry bogged down with HD slots, it can be easy to pass by a game that looks and sounds like this one, but if you do that, you’d be missing out on an unbeatable vintage yet contemporary experience. We can’t recommend this slot machine enough, and we’re certain you’ll be the same once you’ve had a go.
