The Power of Magic
History has shown us various romances with magic, with the medieval period being one filled with superstitions and supernatural beliefs, and so it makes sense that the wild symbol should be abnormal in its features. The Magic Swords Feature is a thing of beauty.
Alone, on 4 out of the 5 reels, the symbol does little more than substitute other tiles, but when it lands on the third reel, it opens up into a more intricate design. Now sporting four handles, each to a mystical sword, the wild symbol will spin round, before falling back into place. Any handles that are pointing at other symbols will expel their magic, and those symbols will be turned into wilds as well. Pretty magical if you ask us, and highly rewarding too.
A Challenger Approaches
Royal Towers may have the same gamble option as we’ve seen in other Octavian titles, but the details have been changed to better suit the theme. Therefore, although similar in many ways, the option is also unique and in-keeping.
Having said that, the dynamics of the round hasn’t been altered at all, and so you’ll have to deal with the same brutality you’ve come across in the past. The most anyone can win during the round is 200 credits, but in truth it’s unlikely you’ll get past the first level. Should you manage that, make sure you’re ready for the onslaught ahead. Octavian don’t do low volatility – they’re mean, and they intend to make you sweat it out for that cash!
The Seat of the Empire
The castle icon is your bonus symbol, meaning that it brings with it an exclusive round only seen upon the reels of this slot. Normally the brand doesn’t provide such detailed bonuses, so we were most impressed to see this one turn up.
It’s called the Shield Bonus, and as you’d expect, you’ll have to engage with several shields in order to reveal your prizes, which happens to be a choice of gems: some orange, some gold. The orange gemstone opens up another shield randomly, briefly taking away your ability to choose, which we didn’t care for. However, the gold jewel turned a wedge of the wheel to the same colour as the stone, which set us up for some big wins; though you have to land on that wedge to get those wins, which is easier said than done.
Before we finish up here and return to our normal time zone, we have to talk about how impressive the graphics employed here are – they’re so crisp. It’s any gamers’ dream to interact with such an high definition set of images. Royal Towers provides beautifully detailed symbols, some of which are more in-keeping with the design than others, like the knight riding on his steed.
Then you have the city of stone behind the grid itself, shining like a beacon; it’s so well thought out and presented that you feel like you’re part of an interactive story, rather than a slot machine.
Royal in Every Sense
We adore this slot machine; it’s one of the few contemporary titles that has everything you could possibly want (from a slot), without giving up a piece of itself simply to look pretty. A must play for all users.
