Wave Patrol is here to help those summertime dreams come to life, thanks to its 5 reels and 10 winlines. From the off you’re subjected to a lot of cheerful, feel good imagery, which is especially helpful at taking you to far off shores when winter rages outside your front door. However, even if you’re playing during the summertime, you can still appreciate the heat of this real cash slot, minus getting pesky sunburn.

As this is a game from Octavian, you get the expected 3D graphics, all of which have been designed to enhance the theme of the game as much as possible. The brand is nothing if not dedicated to making each novelty theme as detailed as the last; is there any design they can’t create? It’s not just the design though, as there are some extra spins and a wild feature up for grabs, in among all that frollicking under the sun.

Shark Infested Waters

Most of us have seen Jaws, and even if we haven’t, we know that swimming with sharks (without guides and protection) is a bad idea, or is it? In Wave Patrol, you get to interact with a cheeky looking shark that delivers free spins whenever he shows up. We’re not about to say dive into any open waters when on holiday, but when playing this game, it’s okay to cosy on up.

The number of rounds you can win here varies, depending on the number of symbols you collect, with five being the ultimate prize. However, five won’t get you any more than 15 rounds, which seems a bit small to us. No matter, for any extra scatters found during the games will grant you yet another free spin, continuously adding to the pile and making the feature last longer.

We can’t just leave the free games there without mentioning their great extra: the Lucky Buoy Feature. It sounds a lot more dramatic than what it is, for it simply involves wilds, but beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to special features.

Gamers have the joy of seeing wilds frozen into place whenever they turn up during the free waves, which means that more substituted wins can appear. They’ll stay there for the entirety, with a maximum of 12 able to stay afloat as you play on.

Have Your Say

When you’re given the chance to play the pinball gamble, remember that you can alter your settings so that a card gamble appears instead. We didn’t realise this at first, and so it took some snooping about to find it, but the option is hidden away inside the settings toggle. Personally, we prefer the pinball machine as it’s a lot more entertaining, as well as being more of an unknown, but it’s whatever makes the game comfortable for you.

Should you opt for the cards instead, you’ll be presented with the typical black or red options, with so many rounds to play should you keep guessing correctly. Less effort has been put in here to make the round feel exclusive, which in turn affects how we receive the game. If you don’t want any gamble options whatsoever, you can turn them off in the settings.

Get Those Babes

Not everyone heads to the beach to get a hot girl (or guy), but we can’t say that we don’t notice the talent wandering about as we lounge upon the sand. If you’re wanting to impress those beauties out there, you’re going to want to be that high roller that everyone knows. To do that, you need to bet the maximum amount.

It isn’t a must to play, for you can bet as little or as much as you want, but the higher payouts are reserved for those that risk 20 credits rather than 0.10.

Riding That Wave

Wave Patrol is as entertaining as the next Octavian slot machine, but we didn’t feel the personality coming through like we have during other experiences. This game is a little flat in places, and in the end it ultimately impacts on how you receive the game. It’s good, but it isn’t great.
