Play’n Go has accustomed players to standard, low-key games in the past – but once in the while the developers go a little crazy and come up with a unique game full of original features. With Cloud Quest, the studio is mixing tradition role-playing games with a drop-based slot game gameplay for a unique and addictive result.

In this video slot game, players will have control over a large, 5×5 grid of symbols that can combine in all directions. Wilds will appear at random, bonus features will be triggered, and your character will slowly level up to unlock even larger payouts. Is is a slot game or a new opus of the Final Fantasy saga? Find out by reading our full review of Cloud Quest.

Classic RPG Style

Cloud Quest is taking its inspiration from classic RPGs and fantasy video games. The pastel tones of the castle and landscape in the background are a clear reference to well-known Japanese franchises of the genre, with plenty of unique characters such as warriors, wizards, healers and so on appearing both on and off the reels.

Cloud Quest has a very original look for a slot game and manages to take players to a completely different place. If you are a fan of fantasy games, you will fall in love with Cloud Quest instantly – and we sure did ourselves.

Become the Hero of Your Own Adventure

Cloud Quest is a drop-based slot game, which means that every time you hit the start button, new symbols will come down onto the grid and fill it up all at once. Clusters of 3 or more identical symbols will deliver a cash prize, disappear and give way for new symbols to come down in a free “respin”, which can trigger a chain reaction of wins. Place a wager between 0.10 and 40 credits per turn and play either turn-by-turn or activate the autoplay game mode to speed up Cloud Quest a little.

Cloud Quest is a high-volatility slot game, and it might take a while before you score your first wins on the reels – but we can assure you that the game is worth the effort, both visually and in terms of gameplay. The paytable contains a large array of typical RPG artefacts such as potions, spell books, magic staffs and so on, plus a handful of characters wearing an armour and wielding shields, swords or magic staffs. The most valuable basic cluster of symbols in Cloud Quest is worth 50 times your starting bet.

Bonuses and Power-Ups

Cloud Quest is filled with dynamic surprises and useful bonuses. Each cluster of 3 symbols, for instance, turns into a wild symbol and gives you extra chances to score other combinations at the same time. Wild clusters can be worth up to 150 times your bet value and proved very useful to us.

Each time you find power stones on the reels, the power metre on the right will start filling up. Once all the clusters have been accounted for, you get a chance to trigger one of the super powers hidden in the power metre. You may win multipliers, scatters, extra wilds and more for your next turn.

Cloud Quest is also home to a super exciting bonus round, which you can access by revealing the word “bonus” on the grid during the base game. You will be playing on a separate set of reels, with 5 to 20 spins available. Defeating a monster will award special prizes, with different stages to complete and levels to take your character through.

Half Slot Game, Half RPG

Cloud Quest is more original and complex than many other slot games on the market. On the Play’n Go catalogue, this particular game stands out for all the good reasons: good graphics, innovative features and an ultra dynamic interface.

We had a great time testing Cloud Quest, and even if the bonus features and other rules of the game are significantly more complex than in most games, it does not make the experience any less addictive.
