Embracing the Fear Factor
Haunted House may only have 3 reels and 5 paylines, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of fun packed in here. The reels are located in front of a backdrop of a creepy, darkened castle. You can see a single red light coming from a high tower. Behind that tower, you see an image of a brightly glowing moon, with red-eyed bats and a witch hovering about.
The symbols and themes of this game will have you fooled into thinking you’re spending time in a haunted house yourself. You’ll see a golden chalice, a burning candle, a dagger, garlic bulbs, a casket, a crucifix and more on the reels. Graphics shouldn’t be your priority in this game, but the haunting effects of the sound and mood are what help to make this medium variance game so appealing.
Cheap Thrills Aplenty
Despite the low reel and low payline number, you still have plenty of options for wagering here. The minimum denomination for coins is 0.01, with the maximum being 5.00. That’s a huge range change in anyone’s book, as it allows for a minimum bet of 0.05 and a maximum bet of 25.00. You can also chose to play on 1 to 5 paylines, with total control handed over to the play.
As usual, you’ll notice a difference between the line bet and total bet. With the line bet, you can see how much you’re betting on any single payline. With a total bet, you see the bet for the whole round. The payout, as per usual, is multiplied by what you’ve decided you want the coin size to be. Should you hit winning combos on multiple pay lines, the winnings are all added together.
Well and Truly Under Control
Haunted House is a game that is fairly categorised as a classic online slots title, with that in mind you are right to expect the control system here to be simple to understand. In fact, this is arguably one of the easiest to control slots game that we have ever seen, as every aspect of the game can be tweaked and controlled through just six buttons.
Forget about all the complexity you’ve seen in other Playtech titles, as Haunted House has brought things back to basics.
More like a House of Mirrors
One disappointing factor of the game is that it doesn’t include any special features. That’s right – no free spins, no progressive, no random wins, no multipliers, and absolutely no bonus games. The symbols in the game do pay pretty well, but it doesn’t quite the stop the game from missing that much needed zip as far as playing incentives are concerned.
This game is certainly a classic 3-reel, 3-row title, so some may excuse it for not having a tremendous amount of replayability. We probably aren’t so forgiving and like to think that Playtech could have included some form of added extra to give the game a “progression” element.
Will You Brave the Haunted House?
Putting aside the fact that there aren’t any bonus features, this is still a fun game to play when push comes to shove. The theme plays out well, there is a lot of payout options and the wins can get really big if luck falls in your favour. All in all, Haunted House is a classic slots game with a haunted twist; so don’t miss it this Halloween season!
