Lucky Charm Bingo Review

Lucky charms always invoke one thing – the hyper-sweet cereal that no parent in their right mind would ever allow their children to have. A few in this office were given the opportunity to sample them as kids, and by all accounts they’ve never been the same since. Reports of rabid couch jumping sessions and insatiable appetites for staying up just a little bit longer. Anyone with little ones of their own will likely be shuddering right now.

Thankfully, Lucky Charm Bingo is a different story altogether, although given the well-known sleep depriving properties of screens – from tablet and smartphones to computers – clearly this particular bingo website has the capacity to make you not really want to go to sleep, but instead keep playing until... well, whenever your heart palpitations force you to finally get some rest.

Standard Set-Up

That rather sinister thought process aside, what we have here is a pretty standard format bingo website setup. The landing page loads up, and you’re immediately confronted with the imagery that you would probably expect- so that would be balls, numbers and... Oh, hang on, wait a minute, that’s not entirely true. Instead, there’s one massive number – £20 – which refers to the sign up bonus, and a picture of a hot air balloon sporting the website’s trademark writing.

Quite what a hot air balloon has to do with lucky charms of any kind is unclear to us. We don’t even really like flying, so the thought of going up into the sky in a large inflatable is really not that appealing, so perhaps the developers feel the same – hence them needing a lucky charm to put their concerns at ease? Heathens, sorcerers, warlocks, superstitious nitwits. Call them what you like if that is the truth, it doesn’t really matter, they’ve built a pretty nice looking website.

Busy Start

The home page is certainly pretty busy to say the least. Below the whole £10/hot air balloon bit you’ll see a news ticker style information bar which contains all the details about new and leading winners, with their current winnings. This is definitely a clever move as it makes you feel as though the website is alive, rather than a static nonsense, and that there is a real community at work (or should that be play) here. Below this, there’s a step by step guide on the sign up process- MENSA rejects can breathe a sigh of relief; there are only three steps and these are very straightforward.

Keep going down and you’ll find some boxes containing clickthroughs to various types of games. To be honest, it’s all pretty busy, and you can’t help but get the feeling this has been designed to confuse to the point of just signing up and getting involved. Clarity is something we really look for in a casino, that and a lack of prompts to click in a bid to get details and fine print as to what’s on offer. Sadly, in this instance they have managed to make a very busy, rather unclear website, whilst also neglecting to ensure we can see exactly what’s on offer without having to click onto a different part of the website. not an ideal start, let’s have a click and find out more.

Let the Games Begin

By clicking on the ‘Games’ option on the menu bar you’ll immediately be taken through to the ‘Games’ section. No nasty surprises there then. This is really where things start to slot into place. The initial selection of games is ‘All’, meaning you have both bingo and the slots/casino options in one big load of thumbnails.

We have, in the past, been unlucky enough to use website where this is literally the only way they present the games- i.e. there are no options to sort by game type, such as poker, or slots, or bingo. Thankfully, then, Lucky Charm Bingo has at least gone one better than this, meaning we can see only the Bingo on offer. Let’s do that, but clicking on Bingo.

All the Bingo You Could Ask for… Providing It’s One of Two

As the subheading here would imply, there’s not a huge range of bingo on offer here at Lucky Charm Bingo, which is quite disappointing as obviously you’d expect this to be a site that has lots and lots of different types of bingo on offer.

Instead, you have 90 ball, and 75 ball. Granted, these are our two favourite types of bingo game, but this really isn’t that good when you compare to other sites that have four or five different variations on bingo, plus loads of special promo games to go at. Still, at least they do the bingo they do well.

Mini-Game?

Yes, there is another section to the ‘Games’ area which is labelled Minigames. Sadly, this again leads to more disappointment. Charm Chaser is the only minigame on offer, despite the use of a plural (Minigames). Presumably their planning to post more of these up soon, but for the time being let’s just say that this is a pretty lackluster selection. In fact, you can’t even really call it a selection at all. It’s one game. And that’s it.

Slots and Casinos Must Be Better, Right?

You’d certainly hope so, wouldn’t you? Thankfully, those assumptions are correct. Slots and Casino games do account for more than the others combined. But then that’s not saying much. In fact, it’s saying very little at all when you take into consideration the fact there are only 20 games in this section. So that means across the entire website there are 23 games. Nice one. Amazing.

Money for Nothing?

Weirdly, yes, and a fair bit. Comparatively speaking that is. So whilst there are only 23 games on offer, there’s almost 1/4 of that number in deals being offered. In terms of proportions and percentages this is far and away much higher than almost any other website, but whilst we know the number of games is set to grow, it does seem a bit odd for the developers to have decided to put so much emphasis on deals to make you sign up, when singing up doesn’t really get you very much.

Still, from what’s here you have the £20 bonus for signing up, which is decent considering you only need to deposit £5. Then there’s the Wacky Wings Party, which is a whole week of boosted pots and special price nights. On top of this, Charm Chaser is an unlockable game that allows you to win extra funds, and Fun At Your Fingertips lets you play on you mobile or table... hang on, so that basically means that the mobile site is being advertised as a ‘promotion’, and the Charm Chaser – the only game in the whole minigames section – is actually something you have to unlock. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Lucky Conclusion

By now it should be clear by now that, as in life, Lucky Charm bingo is all about the perpetual disappointments. There aren’t enough games here, the bonuses are very limited and in some cases not even a bonus at all (wow, we can play on mobile – what do you want, an award for future proofing?), and the home page is far to busy without really providing the vital information you need. Not the worst thing we have ever come across online (you don’t want to know), nevertheless it’s pretty bad. Or perhaps more accurately, pointless.
