What’s in the Coffin?
If you’re on a night out with your mates, the last thing you want to do is stumble upon a house filled with coffins. Sadly though, you have no say in the activities tonight as you’re about to come face to face with the undead, and where they slumber. However, rather than be scared to death, you’ll likely be jumping up and down with joy as the coffins on the grid can grant you free spins.
The bonus icons need to be matched in a three, four or five of a kind combination (as is the industry norm), when that happens you’ll be asked to select one of the coffins. All of them hold a prize, but some will be more plentiful than others. What is more, the prizes inside aren’t that of cash or mini games, but of free spins instead. The amount you can win is between 8 and 25, which is yet another industry standard starring in this spooky bonanza.
Howling and Biting the Night Away
Not content with just giving you free games, Stake Logic have included two wild symbols: one of a female vampire and the other of a male werewolf. You may have already figured this out for yourselves, but they’re the two characters you see fully animated on either side of the 5-reels. Clearly their exposure to all this horror has caused them to morph into creatures a lot more haunting than humans.
These wilds are extras in addition to the standard wild, or that’s how the paytable sums it up, but in its explanation they make everything more complicated than it needs to be. The only real depth these extras bring is in their animated features, for they do what any wild symbol does and subs other icons save the bonus. Once you know that they’re included mainly for show, their appeal wears off and you start to fight back against the rising tide of evil.
Release Your Inner Wolf
We suspect that if you’re playing this slot machine, you either like Stake Logic or you like horror themed games; if you fall into the latter category, it’s good to know that you have other options. Virtually every other gaming brand out there has some form of horror to deliver you, whether it’s dark and moody like this one or comical like Attack of the zombies. If you’re looking for a slot that’s a bit of both, you should try Werewolf Wild.
Aristocrat are the minds behind that spook fest, and while they’ve captured the essence of all that goes bump in the night, they’ve done so in a light hearted way. Sometimes we don’t want to be scared when we get our dose of horror – isn’t that part of the reason we love spoofs so much? You’ll get 5-reels like you do here, but you get a higher number of free games, alongside lower volatility.
Your Lord and Ruler
Lord of Darkness is a class act. We’re horror fans through and through, and so we have a particularly skeptical eye when it comes to conventions of this genre. Stake Logic has delivered, especially on a visual level, but we feel the gameplay could have included more variance. There’s features, but not so many that you’ll be playing for hours on end, which is a shame as this game has so much potential.
