This is one attractive matrix of images, with an in-depth background to help emphasise the rich series of animation you’ll see upon the reels; TopGame have gone all out to ensure this is as attractive as possible. Even the lowly card values have been designed to look like ancient alphabet symbols.
Arguably though, the most prominent element of the entire game is Hercules, decorated with the head of a lion. As impressive as the mane of the beast he’s wearing, this tile brings a plentiful supply of coins whenever a match of three, four or five is secured. However, he is by no means the most rewarding of all, for that belongs to the silvery blue shine of the Zeus coin.
A Bolt of Lightning
Seeing as Zeus is synonymous with lightning, it makes sense that this epic god would rain down these bolts upon the reels whenever a spin is about to happen, but to reduce the excitement of free games to this simple summary would be unfair. Hercules Son of Zeus has one of the most intensely rewarding scatters we’ve ever seen.
For the round to even begin, three of Zeus’ coins need to fall into place; and you’ll certainly know when that happens because they come together to form one giant image, on top of a red background. Gamers are then informed of the number of spins they’ve won, and the reels re-appear.
Prior to each spin, the middle three reels will be struck with lightning and a wild will appear on each of them. When the reels finally grind to a halt, you could be in for extra spins and huge payouts; we got an ‘Epic Win’ of 1,450 credits, which roughly worked out at 70 plus euros!
Placing That Bet
TopGame, as you might have seen us say before, far from has a user friendly interface when it comes to understanding your bet amount. The reason for this is because two amounts are shown, one of which appears to be much larger than the other, which in turn causes lots of confusion. Allow us to clear up this mess.
Underneath the big play button is where you’ll see the value of your bet; when playing with the lowest amount, which is worth 0.01 per coin placed on each winline, the total given is 50. However, if you look underneath the grid and to the left hand corner, you’ll see the sum is actually 0.50. That is your true bet amount. Knowing this will ensure you never make a betting error when playing Hercules Son of Zeus again.
What is more, you have two parts to the bet: the value and the number of coins applied. As many as ten coins can be placed on a winline, with a worth of between 0.01 and 0.50.
An Impressive Display
This slot machine isn’t to be trifled with, for it packs a big punch even despite its medium variety gameplay. And should you manage to unlock the free games, you can be almost trapped in an endless loop of free games for a prolonged length of time. So much so that the spins can become annoying, as odd as that may sound. Hercules Son of Zeus is a fine, top notch game for all gamers to appreciate, although those who prefer minimalism will no doubt tire of the overzealous graphics.
We enjoyed this game so much, we’re giving it a four and half rating, which goes to show that a game doesn’t need to overdo it with features to keep us entertained.
