Black Magic Fruits Slot Review
Retro slot games are everywhere nowadays, and every single game developer seems to be very eager to bring forward their own interpretation of what a good casino slot game should look and feel like. In that particular field, Barcrest has already demonstrated a certain proficiency and we are here to look at another of their classic slots: Black Magic Fruits.
The title alone is enough to set the mood and tells us all we need to know about what to expect, or almost. This particular video slot game has a medium volatility and an RTP stretching from 95.02% to 96,11%, according to the game mode that you are playing in. And yes, this dynamic slot features 2 different ways to bet, which we will discover in our complete review right here.
Dark Forces at Play
Black Magic Fruits has a dark and mysterious theme with very few details in the background. The reels and command buttons appear to be floating on top of a black and purple cloud, emerging from some sort of mysterious mist. A gothic-style frame runs around the reels in the centre, while the large command buttons all over the screen have retained their classic, colourful look, surprisingly enough.
Even the background music is a traditional, smooth tune that we would not be surprised to hear inside an elevator somewhere. Overall, Black Magic Fruits is perhaps not as mysterious as it might have seen at first. We would have loved to see a more consistent, perhaps horror-inspired theme run from the top to the bottom of the game screen.
A Quick Start on the Reels
Black Magic Fruits is played on a small reel set featuring only 3 reels and 5 fixed paylines, which makes your task as a player extremely simple. Use the arrows on the side to decide on your next wager, which can go from 0.10 to 500 credits in total. This large betting range is one of Black Magic Fruits’ most interesting features, as it allows all kinds of gamblers to play as they prefer, big or small.
The average volatility of Black Magic Fruits, coupled to an equality average RTP makes the game rather predictable and gives you decent chances to win big even without relying on any bonus features. The paytable is a classic selection of fruits and colourful 7s, with a top win set at 1250 times the value of your current line bet.
A Little Twist Towards the End
Black Magic Fruits does not have any specific special symbol during the base game, so no need to look for scatters or even wilds at that stage. If you want to spice things up a little, click the Big Bet shortcut on the right-hand side of the screen to enter a separate game mode.
Choose how many credits you are willing to risk and hit the spin button to bet on 5 consecutive spins automatically. In Big Bet mode, the symbols stay the same but the double red 7s turn into wilds to help you score more winning combinations. Despite this welcome help on the reels, the rewards in Big Bet mode are not nearly as interesting as in the normal game. We were expecting some big wins there, but the final result was actually a little underwhelming to us.
Way More Classic Than You Would Have Imagined
Despite its impressive name, Black Magic Fruits is a very classic slot game with a retro theme and super classic symbols all over the reels. The Big Bet game mode sounded promising on paper but ended up being quite disappointed given the short range of rewards available.
In a nutshell, players are better off sticking to the regular game mode and playing all-in to try and take advantage of the medium variance of Black Magic Fruits. The slot game market is full of other retro games based on a similar set of rules but with more exciting features and rewards, such as Bar X 125 from IGT, for instance.
