Jackpot Jewels Slot Review
Classic slots are clearly still very popular on the modern market, but if you have grown tired of the classic model of the genre then why not try and supersize it? Jackpot Jewels by Barcrest is a retro video slot game that offers players a large, 7×4 reel set and even more winning possibilities that you can imagine.
With a higher-than-average volatility and an average RTP of 95%, not to mention a special game mode specifically designed for high rollers, Jackpot Jewels is a surprisingly entertaining slot with an old-school style. Want to take up the challenge? Check out our full review of the game to be fully prepared.
Jackpot Jewels is not much of a looker compared to most modern slot games. As a matter of fact, the Barcrest designers were probably going for a classic, 80s look with a black and purple background, large pixels and rather slow reel animations. The command buttons are all grouped at the bottom of the game, which makes controlling Jackpot Jewels very straightforward.
We didn’t mind the low-key graphics – who doesn’t like an old-school slot from time to time – but the painfully slow reel animations did bother us a little. For sure, Jackpot Jewels has a large reel set to deal with, but we would have loved to see it move a tad faster anyway.
Navigating the Screen
Jackpot Jewels might be larger than average, but the basic rules of the game are still the same. The 7 reels feature 50 paylines, which you can activate freely. Use the different sets of plus and minus buttons under the reels in order to do so and choose your next wager, from 1 to 400 credits per spin. Jackpot Jewels also features the classic autoplay game mode, if you want to place the same wager on several consecutive spins, which speeds up the game process a little bit.
The large reel set of Jackpot Jewels comes with a higher volatility, meaning that scoring wins can be more challenging than on average slot games. As for the paytable, it contains card icons and 5 different jewels, with the largest payout worth 12,500 times your current bet value. Now that is one impressive goal, but remember that you will need a giant combination of 7 of the rarest jewels in order to pocket such a big cash prize.
Play Big and Win Big… Perhaps
As mentioned in the introduction, Jackpot Jewels features a “hi roller” special mode. Use it to place a specific bet on 5 consecutive spins. The different combinations are worth half as much compared to the base game, but your chances of scoring a prize are higher – although not as high as we would have liked.
Whether you are playing in hi-roller mode or in the base game, the Jackpot Jewels logo plays the part of both the wild and the scatter. Scoring logos on reels 2, 4 and 6 at the same time triggers a bonus round of at least 10 free spins, with sticky wilds. The card icons will disappear and only the jewels will remain on the reels during the free spins, with random multipliers (up to x3) attached to them.
A Good Challenging for Ambitious High Rollers
Jackpot Jewels is a challenging slot game that is probably best enjoyed by true high rollers. The logo symbols are simply too rare on the reels to really help on a regular basis, at least according to our experience when we tested the game, and you will have to rely on luck and patience in the base game in order to score high prizes.
That being said, Jackpot Jewels brings a welcome change in terms of gameplay thanks to its giant reel set and increased winning possibilities. Besides, what player can resist a giant jackpot when they see one?
