Egypt Sky Slot Review
It’s time to take a trip down the Nile to seek out the top prizes in EGT’s Egypt Sky, which features their unmissable Jackpot Cards feature.
Five reels and four rows present 40 paylines on which you can win some mid-range payouts, and the stacked wild feature that invades the Free Spins round is a nice touch from EGT who could often be accused of being quite stingy with their prizes.
Otherwise this is your standard slot game from this developer, with dated graphics and sounds being left in the shade by many of their competitors. EGT’s motto is clearly “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, and they deserve credit for their substance over style approach.
Walk Like An Egyptian
Three playing card symbols take up their positions on the reels in Egypt Sky, and the Ace, King and Queen will help you to get your Egyptian adventure off to the best possible start. These pay 5 coins, 20 coins and 100 coins respectively for spinning three, four or five on a payline.
The next symbol is that colourful Egyptian Icon, and this little fella is a nice little earner as he pays 10 coins for matching three, 20 coins for matching four and 125 coins for the full five.
Next up is the Longboat casually cruising down the Nile. Climb aboard and earn yourself 15 coins, 50 coins and 200 coins for three or more.
The Chariot is being pulled by a pair of rather unruly-looking horses, but don’t worry about that because the rewards for taking up the reins are obvious; 20 coins, 50 coins and 100 coins to be precise.
The last two symbols in Egypt Sky are our lead characters: Cleopatra and the Sun God Ra. Cleopatra, the siren of Ancient Egypt, will reward players with 20 coins, 100 coins and 500 coins for spinning a treble, quadruple or quintuple of her, while the Sun God Ra – one of the most powerful beings around, earns 50 coins, 500 coins and 2,000 coins.
And don’t forget, if you win any amount less than 1,400 coins then you can utilise the Gamble feature in an attempt to double up. Simply guess the colour of an upturned playing card to enhance your winnings with a 2x multiplier; guess wrong, and your original winnings will be lost.
The wild in Egypt Sky is that unusual-looking icon, the Ankh. This will appear on the second, third or fourth reel, and will substitute for all other symbols on the same reel apart from the scatter to help players create some additional winning combinations.
And then the scatter, which is that stunning Egyptian landscape across the pyramid-laden Nile, offers its dual set of rewards. Firstly, it pays out the biggest prizes in the game for spinning three or more on your reels: that’s 200 coins, 2,000 coins or a monumental 8,000 coins to be precise.
Its second role is to trigger the free spins, and so spinning three of the scatter will reward players with three free spins, four earns five free spins and five earns seven free spins.
The free spins round is played with the Wild Feature intact, and here a wild symbol will appearing on reels 2, 3 and 4 will expand to fill the whole reel and stay there until the conclusion of the free spins round! Unfortunately, free spins can’t be re-triggered during this feature, and each freebie will be played at the triggering line amount.
On the Cards
One of the things that is always a bit of a crowd-pleaser with EGT games is the Jackpot Cards special feature. This game is played using the four jackpot levels at the top of the screen, with each suit of a playing card represented by its own progressive number. The Club is the first level, the Diamond the second, the Heart is third and lastly the Spade which pays the top level.
Players will be presented with 12 playing cards lying face down on the table, and you will be asked to pick cards individually until you have unearthed three of the same suit. You will then win the corresponding amount at the top of the screen.
There are no triggering requirements and any bet qualifies; it really is a randomly triggered feature!
All in all, Egypt Sky is an enjoyable title that offers an engaging enough theme. Players that have tried other titles from EGT might find the seven free spin maximum to be a bit stingy, while others will recognise the generosity implicit in the 8,000 coin top prize.
As ever with EGT, it is the Jackpot Cards feature that enables Egypt Sky to be recommended.
