Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a dog who’s checked into a hotel while its owners go away? Well, apparently Microgaming have, because without doing so, there’s no way that they could have come up with the game entitled Hound Hotel. Of course, they’ve put an exaggerated spin on the idea of a dog hotel, offering up imagery of a fully dog owned and run establishment. It doesn’t really feature any kind of initial soundtrack, instead presenting players with the sound of a casino hall with noisy machines in the background. However, whenever you manage to form a win, you’ll hear a bit more of a themed ditty play, adding a little bit more atmosphere to the game. Alongside this, you’ll see that the developer has included some very high quality graphics and animations into the product, both of which help to ensure you have an entertaining and pleasant round of game play. Of course, the reels are all set out against a backdrop of the hotel in question, which seems to be quite an elaborate building, complete with golden doggy bowls atop some columns at either side.

Canine Adventure

On the whole, this game provides players with a fairly regular layout, featuring five reels and three rows worth of an interface. Upon these reels, you’ll find the various different symbols, including the frequently seen A, J, K and Q icons. And joining these icons are five different images of dogs, all of which appear to be guests at the hotel in question. The first is a pug smoking a cigar and clutching a glass of brandy. This is joined by a Scottish terrier, complete with kilt and smoking a pipe. The third symbol is a classy poodle, dressed in her luxury pearls and fur clothes, while the fourth one is a Siberian husky with a top hat and cane. Finally, the St Bernard is the last dog, clutching on to his cup of tea and wearing a luxurious dressing gown.

As well as the reels, rows and icons, you’ll find that there are 25 separate pay lines included in the game as well, and Microgaming have fixed these in position, so you’re unable to customise them in any way. However, you do have the chance to adjust your bet placed per round, and this is done first of all by changing the coin size. This will provide you with a range of between $0.01 and $0.50, and following on from this, you have the chance to play between one and 15 of these coins per line. Should you choose to push these up to their maximum limits, you’ll be playing a high wager of $187.50 per spin.

Hounding Special Features

This game has several specialities included in it, and the first of these is the Hound Hotel game logo, which acts as its wild symbol. In this state, it will substitute for all other icons on the reels in order to form a winning combination, with the only exception being the scatter icon. In the base game, the wilds come in stacked format, and if you manage to spin five of them on to a winning pay line from left to right, you’ll receive a maximum pay out of 3750 coins.

There’s also the inclusion of a ‘Dashing Wild’ feature, and this sees three dashing wilds land in any random position on the reels. These can occur completely randomly during the base game on any non-winning spin.

As noted, there is also a scatter symbol included in the game, which is that of the butler carrying a tray of food. These pay out wherever they appear on the reels, and if you spin five of them into view, you’ll receive a maximum pay out of 18,750 coins. Three, four or five scatters appearing in any position will trigger the ‘Hound Hotel Bonus’ round. This allows you to win one of five wild freespins features. This takes you to a screen with several levels and several doors on each one. Pick a door from floor one to reveal your special wild feature, then pick one from the second floor to reveal your multiplier. Finally, a door on the third floor will reveal your freespins amount. Doors on the second and third floors may also award an extra pick.

The Hotel’s Rates

When playing this game, you’ll no doubt be instantly entertained by the various different icons and animations, but the special features which have been included alongside are also very much reason enough to spin a few rounds of it.
