If you’ve played the ‘Hound Hotel’ game presented by Microgaming, you’ll most likely find that ‘Kitty Cabana’ runs in much the same vein, at least thematically. Of course, rather than dogs being present on the reels, you’ll find that creatures of the feline breed have been inserted into it instead. So, if you’re more of a cat person than a dog person, this one should definitely be the next stop for you on your gaming journey. It tells the story of a luxury kitten home, which is complete with elaborately tiled roof, fenced balconies added on to all rooms, and palm trees in the garden. As far as the inclusive soundtrack is concerned, the base game doesn’t really feature one, instead opting for a standard set of casino noises to accompany your game play. The only time you receive a thematic piece of music is when you form a winning combination on the reels. Not only that, but Microgaming have integrated some stellar graphics and animations into this game, which combine with everything else to form a highly entertaining round of game play.

Sharpen Your Kitty Claws

As with many other online video slot games, you’ll find that the layout of this one is five reels and three rows strong, so you’ll have a familiar interface on which to spin the reels of. It’s upon this interface that you’ll find the variety of different symbols, which start with the regularly seen A, J, K and Q icons. Alongside these, you’ll find five different cat characters. The first of these is a cat wearing spectacles who is in the midst of having a manicure, and this is joined by a second one who is taking some time out in the hairdresser’s salon. The third cat is acting as a barman, pouring out a glass of milk for a customer. The last two symbols are the images of a kitten sat by the pool drinking a cocktail, and the other is a cat bathing in the pool.

As well as this interface, you’ll find that there are 25 separate pay lines included by the developer, but these are not able to be customised in any way as they’re fixed in place. However, you do have the chance to alter the wager you place per round, and this is done firstly by changing around the coin size, which is available to adjust between $0.01 and $0.50, whilst the amount of coins you play per line is changeable between one and 15. This allows a maximum overall wager of $187.50 per spin.

Selective Special Features

As far as the added special features of this game are concerned, you’ll be able to see a few of these on offer, such as the wild icon. This is represented by the icon of the game’s logo, and as a wild symbol it will substitute for all others on the reels in order to form a winning combination, with the only exception being the scatters. Should you spin five of these on to a winning pay line, you’ll receive a maximum pay out of 3750 coins, and these are stacked in the base game to present you with stronger opportunities to form wins.

This is joined by the dashing wild feature, and this is triggered at random after a non-winning spin occurs. This sees three dashing wilds land in random symbol positions, and of course, they will act as wilds do, standing in for all others on the reels.

The scatter icon integrated in the game is that of the kitty waitress, and three, four or five of these in any position will trigger the ‘Kitty Cabana Bonus’ round. This allows you to win one of five wild freespins features. The first screen you’re taken to here is three floors of the building, and you need to pick a door on floor one to reveal your special wild feature, which include things like super stacked wilds or expanding wilds. Picking a door on floor two will then reveal your multiplier for the freespins round, and a door on the third floor will reveal the amount of freespins you will receive.

The Cat’s Got the Cream

Kitty Cabana is essentially the same game as Hound Hotel, only with cats instead of dogs, so it’s really a question of whether you prefer spinning reels filled with icons of cats or dogs. However, the included special features and game play make it an entertaining product to play on the whole.
