Why pop down the off-license when you can make your own alcoholic delights? Well this slot release from Microgaming takes us down that route but it’s definitely not legal. Thankfully the wins that you’ll be getting will be 100% legal.

The game is set in the USA where a family of hillbillies and rednecks are busy making some illegal alcohol supplies and hoping it doesn’t lead to them ending up behind bars. Now brewing illegal supplies may sound like a serious subject but this slot definitely goes down the comic route. The symbols really will put a smile on your face (as will what they’re making) and they have a distinctly cartoon look to them.

‘Moonshine’ has a colourful look to it and it has five reels, three rows of symbols and a total of 25 pay-lines. Just how many of those pay-lines you decide to activate is entirely the decision of the player themselves. It’s all down to how much money you can safely spend on the game. If you decide to activate all the pay-lines this can be done from as little as €0.25. The maximum cost of playing the game is €250.

No Innocent Granny

Those cartoonish symbols include the delightful family. There’s an old man busy doing nothing and enjoying smoking his pipe, a pig, a banjo-playing hillbilly, a Native American, some moonshine, Kiwis, Sardines and an old woman in a rocking chair who’s nowhere as innocent as she looks as she is holding a double-barrelled shotgun.

The wild symbol in ‘Moonshine’ is the rather more vicious than she looks old woman, a bit like the Hell’s Grannies in ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus.’  She may have a gun but is really helpful and can cause your account balance to go shooting up as she substitutes for other symbols to get you some good wins. Five of the wilds on one activated pay-line will win you 8000x your line bet so keep an eye out for that one.  It’s not possible for the wild to sub for the scatter symbol which is the law officer who’s determined to catch the family. Five of him anywhere on the reels will award you 60x your total bet and any scatters wins are added to other wins you get on that spin of the reels. Nor can the wild substitute for the bonus symbol which is the bottle with ‘Bonus’ written on it.

It’s an easy game to operate and there is an autoplay feature available to use. Before playing, find out as much about the game as possible. That means a quick glance at the paytable and enjoying some free games to see how everything works. Then use all that knowledge you have to start winning some cash.

Moonshine Multipliers

It’s the bonus symbol that you need to look out for if you want some free spins to head your way. At least three of them anywhere on the reels is the target. Three triggers the bonus round and awards you three free spins, four bonus symbols takes it up to four free spins and five if a handful of bonus symbols are responsible for the triggering of the free spins.

Now that doesn’t really sound like that much really does it? A bit like some moonshine with a really low alcohol level. Well, the good news is that not only will that moonshine probably blow your head off it’s so strong (that granny might blow your head off too), there’s the chance to get more free spins and a high multiplier. Simply pick grids to get more free spins and increase that multiplier and you could even end up with 18 free spins with a 4x multiplier if you’re really having a good day. Sadly, it’s not possible to re-trigger the free spins but it can still be a very profitable bonus round to play.

Last Drink from the Bottle

A really enjoyable slot from Microgaming. It’s full of laughter though I wouldn’t fancy meeting that old woman in a dark alley. It’s bright and cheerful and the soundtrack didn’t have me reaching for the mute button.  You’ll have some fun with the animated symbols too. The bonus game can be rather lucrative if the high multipliers head in your direction. If that is the case, then you can enjoy as much moonshine as you want.
