Feel the Heat

The title of the game is not just a metaphor as in Fruits on Fire you’ll see the symbols quite literally burst into flames in front of your eyes.

Most people, even those who only play slots occasionally, have tried their hand at a fruit slot at some point in their life but with new and more exciting genres hitting the market, it’s easy to disregard them as outdated.

However, this creation by Novomatic is anything but mundane with symbols which set fire to themselves every time you hit a winning combination.

It’s a small game compared to others in the market with just three reels and three rows, and there’s an industrial feel to the background. Against the metallic backboard there’s a flame holder either side which lights up between turns.

On the reels you’ll find watermelon, cherries, grapes, lemons and bars, to name but a few. And it’s these regular looking symbols which will be aflame as soon as a winning combination is lined up.

Who’s for chargrilled cherries….?!

Scoring System

Many video slots use active paylines but Fruits on Fire has a slightly different system which is not just simpler to understand, but potentially very lucrative too.

There are no actual paylines in this game as you’ll win by notching up at least four matching symbols on the gameboard. The prizes start paying out for a match of four but steadily increase the more symbols which are visible. The stake is set between the minimum of 0.10 up to a maximum of 40.00. Just like the scoring system, it’s a much simpler set up than having to calculate the value per line or the number of coins in play.

As an example, the lowest prize for matching four is just 2.00, but this increases to 1000.00 for matching nine of the top value symbol on the reels.

And of course, once you land any of these combinations keep an eye out for the fruits exploding into flames!

More Ways to Win

As well as matching up standard symbols, Fruits on Fire contains some extras which provide more chances to win.

The chef appears on the middle reel only and if you land him plus three identical symbols you’ll trigger a special re-spin feature where you’ll be handed 7 free turns.

During these turns the chef will be fixed to the centre reel along with the three (or more!) symbols which qualified you for the re-spins. During the re-spins every time more of the same symbol appears, that also will be fixed and the remaining reels re-spun. By the end of the 7 re-spins, the number of matching symbols in total determines how much your prize will be.

And keep your eye open on the little guy in the centre as there’s a cute animation when the re-spin feature finishes.

Do You Dare?

If you’ve got your eye on the big prizes and are feeling adventurous you could opt to accept the Gamble feature which unlocks every time you win.

This feature is not compulsory and if you’re not a fan of taking big risks, it’s probably not for you. However, if you want to throw caution to the win you could choose to gamble your winnings for the chance of doubling up.

If you proceed you’ll be playing a simple game of chance where all you have to do is correctly predict the colour of the next card, red or black. If you get it right, you win, but get it wrong and you’ll go back to the reels without your money.

Red Hot Play

With Fruits on Fire, Novomatic have reinvented the classic slot giving it a facelift in a video format. It’s not the most complex game you’ll find, but it is rather fun making it a great choice for beginners to start out with.
