If there’s a person alive who isn’t aware of “The Hoff”, David Hasselhoff, then something has gone amiss somewhere along the way. While his years since Knightrider and Baywatch haven’t been especially kind to him on the whole, he’s still very much accomplished, having not only had acting roles, but also stepping foot into the world of singing, producing and business. Not only that, but he’s a multiple Guiness World Record holder, with feats such as having the highest reverse bungee jump being a part of his achievements. Such a popular television personality was only bound to get at least one of his own slot games sooner or later, right? And of course, that slot game had to be created by Novomatic. Yes, it’s finally happened, Hoffmania has come right to your gaming screens!

The Hoff and his Girls

Upon first loading up this game, it would appear that there are five reels and three rows worth of a layout. However, on closer inspection, you’ll notice that the middle ones all spin independently of each other. Therefore, there are eleven reels in this game altogether. On these reels, there are several different icons, with the regular A, J, K, Q, 10 and 9 symbols all making an appearance. Alongside these are, obviously, a nicely drawn image of the Hoff, an autographed photo, and two icons of two different females wearing t-shirts with his picture on them. Supposedly they’re his fans.

In addition to this, there aren’t any specific lines included in the game. Instead, you’ll have to guess where you can create a winning combination, as the only information included states, ‘ALL PAY’ down either side of the reels. However, should you navigate to the menu button, you’ll find that the lines states ‘5’, and is currently fixed at such an amount. The bet you are able to place per line is able to be altered though, with players able to change from the minimum of four coins per line up to the maximum of 2,000 per line. Therefore, an overall maximum wager of 10,000 coins is able to be placed per spin.

Everyone’s Crazy for a Bit of Hasselhoff!

There’s a few different specialities included in this game, with the first being represented by the game’s logo. This acts as the wild icon, and in doing so, will substitute for any other symbol on the reels, except for scatters, in order to craft a winning combination. In addition, the icon of the Hoff himself provides the biggest pay out. Should you spin five onto the reels, you’ll be rewarded with 400,000 coins.

There’s also a golden statue of David on the reels, which acts as the game’s scatter symbol. Should you manage to spin three or more of these onto the reels in any location, you’ll be rewarded with five freespins, which also incorporates the Hoffmania feature. During this round, should you manage to spin any more of the scatter symbols into view, you’ll be rewarded with an extra one or two additional freespins, or an increase of the multiplier by one. The highest possible multiplier is five.

Finally, as this is a game by Novomatic, you’ll find that there’s a gamble feature also included in it. This is triggered after any winning combination is formed in the base game, and offers you the chance to increase the winnings you’ve earned. Choosing to do so will take you to a side game, which presents you with a deck of playing cards. Your goal here is to try and guess the colour of the next card to be turned over, red or black. Getting it right will double your winnings and you’ll get to guess again. This continues until you make a wrong guess, in which case, everything is lost, or until you decide to collect the increased funds.

Time to Reel in the Beach Shorts

While David Hasselhoff is a well-known star, his career hasn’t exactly been as wondrous as some other celebrities we could name. The idea for a celebrity-themed game is a great one, but it’s clear that Novomatic had very little idea of the kind of icons to include on the reels, as most of them are covered by standard slot game ones. An excellent idea, but with quite diabolical execution on the whole.
