You may not be familiar with the name Kummeli, but it is the name of a comedy crew from Finland that appeared on the television between 1991 and 1995. The group was created by Heikki Silvennoinen and he enlisted Timo Kahilainen and Heikki Hela to join in with his antics. The show was an instant success with its various comedy sketches with zany characters. Play ‘N Go are a Swedish slots company and they decided to create a slot machine based on the comic trio.

Whether you have watched the show or not – there’s plenty of winning combinations waiting to be triggered in this 5-reel, 20-payline slot game. You spin the reels from as little as 0.20 up to a maximum of 25.00 with the hope of triggering the 5,000-coin jackpot.

Wilds, scatters and a bonus game are waiting beneath the reels, so are you ready to laugh your socks off and hopefully win big? Kummeli and its characters are waiting for you to begin.

Feel the Theme

Kummeli slot game is slightly Monty Python – lot’s going on with a very unusual theme. You never know what’s going to happen next, especially with the various comedy characters on the reels. When a winning combination lands on your payline, a fanfare will playout and highlight your win.

The stars of the show are placed all around the slot machine and it looks like it’s exploded onto your screen. If you’ve ever watched A League of Gentlemen, you will probably understand us when we say the design is strange – but a good strange.

The control panel lies beneath the reels and offers various betting options and a paytable. You can view your balance, bet and win at all times. You will find a half dressed bearded man clutching his groin, a group of five comedy actors, V Bonus, four distinctive individual characters, a chocolate lolly, two handled guitar, helmet, roses and catapult on the reels.

Wild Wins

Look out for the strange man clutching his private parts (seriously!). He awards the biggest payout of this game – the 5,000-coin non-progressive jackpot. Other high value symbols offer between 250 and 1,000 coins when five of a kind fall into place.

Comic Features

Wilds are represented in the form of the half-dressed man, not only does he awards the biggest wins, but he substitutes all symbols (bar bonus and scatter) to help boost your bankroll.

The group of five characters are the scatter symbol, three or more will trigger the free spins bonus. This scatter symbol then becomes an extra wild during the free spins bonus, so effectively you have two wilds in play.

V Bonus symbol initiates the bonus round – but you’ll need three on your reels to play. An Ali-G style character will emerge on your screen with a strange looking scratchcard. There are 12 boxes and you have to pick just three. Beneath the scratchcard are various winning combinations, all barring two require you to match three to win.

The lowest value of wins is awarded with any three characters and the second lowest value is awarded with just two of the same character. The amount you win is judged on the symbols you pick.

Our Verdict

Kummeli is certainly a strange slot game, but this shouldn’t take anything away from the winning potential that hides within the reel. The soundtrack can get a little bit taxing; it sounds almost like a UFO is landing on your screen – but it’s continual with no breaks – this adds to the weird and wonderful atmosphere of the Kummeli slot game. We found it to be a medium to high variance which took a good deal of playing before triggering the free spins or bonus game.

Spinning the reels was rather frustrating as we could never quite manage to land the third symbol for that bonus game or free spins. When we eventually triggered it, it seemed like we were playing for an eternity and the characters on the reels were rather annoying at this stage.

Free spins bonus was a hard one to get our hands on too, but when we did, boy was it worth it. Thanks to the two lots of wilds, we managed to turn our 25.00 stake into 575.00. There is a return to player (RTP) percentage of 94.17% with the Kummeli slot machine from Play ‘n Go.
